League of Legends Review

Storyline:

Until only twenty years ago, the world was on a collision course with disaster. As a direct response to the world?s growing physical and political instability, Valoran?s key magicians ? including many powerful summoners ? came to the conclusion that conflicts needed to be resolved in a controllable and systemic way. They formed an organization called the League of Legends, whose purpose was to oversee the orderly resolution of political conflict in Valoran. Housed in the Institute of War, the League would be given the authority by Valoran?s political entities to govern the outcomes of the organized conflict they would administer.

Features:

With around 100 separate and distinct characters to choose from with their own skill-sets and story-lines, you are bound to find a few favourites to play as. Champions are rotated so that 10 can be played for free each week. If you love playing a certain character you are able to buy it using riot points that you can get using real money or you can save up influence points that you get after each match to buy the character with.

The game-play of LoL consists of a battlefield with a team of five starting at each end. A team must push toward the other teams end along three lanes and using the surrounding jungles, taking down turrets, minions and enemy champions in order to destroy the enemy ‘nexus’. Strategy must be used in order to win, strategies such as setting ambushes and lane pushing. Gold is gained throughout the battle which is used to purchase items that increase your champions power. At first it is confusing as there are many different items but luckily LoL provides a list of recommended items to suit each champion. As you become more skilled at playing you can deviate from the recommended items to suit your own personal play-style.

You can take in certain skills into the match such as heal, revive and teleport amongst many others.

As you level up you can unlock mastery points and rune slots. Mastery pages are like skill-trees you see in many MMO’s and are split into three trees, offence, defence and support. You can unlock traits such as increased turret damage, increased armour protection and increased heal. You can have different mastery pages to suit each type of champion you like to play as. For example if you like to play a very offensive based champion you can have a mastery page suited to him/her and if you also like playing a tanky champion you can have a mastery page set up for that one too.

Much like the mastery pages you can also have rune pages for each champion type. Rune slots are opened up as you level up. Runes are purchased with influence points and increase your champions stats by a certain percentage.

So many players play LoL that it is rare that you will ever run into anybody again unless you add them to your friends list. If you find that you have a particular group of friends that you play often and well with you can consider entering the tournaments and becoming a League of Legends Legend!
