10,000 Euro Reward Offered Following Wurm Online DDOS Attack

Today was meant to be a day of celebration for Wurm Online players following the release of the latest patch for the popular sandbox MMO but those celebrations were short-lived following a severe DDOS attack that took the servers offline. Update 1.2 promised to deliver an exciting array of new features and mechanics to the world of Wurm Online and although the update was live for a very short period, it wasn’t quite long enough for players to sample the new additions.

A short while after the game went offline a developer posted a new blog article on the official website, explaining the reasons behind the downtime as well as a potential 10,000 Euro reward for any information that may lead to the conviction of the person or persons behind the attack.

Shortly after todays update we were the target of a DDOS
attack and our hosting provider had to pull us off the grid for now. We
will be back as soon as possible but things are out of our hands since
their other customers are affected. As we wrote in a previous news post
we are planning on changing hosting anyways which should improve things
for the future. We can offer 10 000 Euro for any tips or evidence
leading to a conviction of the person responsible for this attack.

Wurm Online wasn’t the only target of malicious attacks today as the Fallen Earth development team are also suffering downtime following a set of DDOS attacks throughout the day. It’s currently unclear when either title will return to normal.
