Blizzard’s Project Titan Unlikely To Be Subscription Based

As seen on Todays Daily XP Video!

Development surrounding Blizzard’s upcoming MMO game, currently codenamed Titan, has been clouded with events and speculation, but there’s finally some concrete information available. Last year a Tweet from Executive Vice President of Game Design led many fans to believe an official announcement was closing but over a year later we’re still waiting to hear anything about the game, really anything. We have absolutely no idea what kind of game Titan will be.

Then in March of this year Blizzard announced that the previous 100-strong development team would be shrunk to a meager 30 employees, with other members of staff being redirected to other Blizzard related projects.

However, in a recent financial call for investors Activision CEO Mike Morhaime stated the following:

“We’re in the process of selecting a new direction for the project and
re-envisioning what we want the game to be,” Morhaime said. “While we
can’t talk about the details yet, it is unlikely to be a
subscription-based MMORPG.”

So, finally we have some additional details. It’s “unlikely” to be a typical pay-to-play subscription model. If it wasn’t for the complete lack of any game-related information, this may have actually been worth getting excited about but it’s all we’ve got, for now.
