It’s not hard to see that MOBA games are pretty much all the rage right now. I’d be lying to you if I didn’t say that most of my recent play-time is heavily MOBA based. So for me, I do like to hear of new projects concerning this genre. So it is with great pleasure to bring you a brand new MOBA game from a well-known publisher, Bigpoint. Bigpoint has had several great games in the past few years, like Battlestar Galactica Online and Drakensang Online, so i’m excited about what they can do with Merc Elite.
Merc Elite is the very first military-based MOBA game that takes place in the near future. The game will boast a direct-fire aiming system along with exciting combat that requires precise tactical movement and a multitude of other battlefield and strategic options. What we can see right away is that Merc Elite is the first MOBA to not be entrenched in a fantasy realm.
The game seems to only offer five different classes as the start. It’s not clear whether or not they will be adding more, or if the classes are highly customizeable or what, but typically we are used to seeing from 30 to 40 to 100 different classes in this genre. The press release did say that there are a plethora of high-tech weaponry and using your ‘brain instead of brawn to complete objectives’ and that players will find the depth and variety of character classes refreshingly unique. So hopefully that’s a good thing.
