The Elder Scrolls Online Confirmed As Pay-To-Play

As seen on Todays Daily XP Video!

During a recent interview with Gamestar Zenimax Studios president, Matt Firor, has confirmed the fears of many; The Elder Scrolls Online will be a pay-to-play MMORPG game.

We’ve been working hard to deliver the game that fans want. One that’s worthy of the Elder Scrolls name. Choosing the right
business model is part of that. We are going with the subscription model
for ESO. We’re building a game with the freedom to play – alone or with your
friends – as much as you want. A game with meaningful and consistent
content – one packed with hundreds of hours of gameplay that can be
experienced right away and one that will be supported with premium
customer support.

In true pay-to-play fashion players will be granted 30 days free access after purchasing the title, giving them unlimited access to every corner of Tamriel. After which they will be expected to pay a currently undisclosed monthly fee.

This could cause a lot of problems for Zenimax Online as typical Elder Scrolls fans are console players. Console games don’t generally charge monthly subscription fees so there’s potential to alienate a concerning number of TES fans.

It shouldn’t really come as a surprise. There has been plenty of speculation surrounding the payment model and most industry experts predicted a pay-to-play model. Love it or loathe it, it’s here to stay.  Whether or not  you plan on changing your opinion about Elder Scrolls Online, be sure to find the best prices when you buy Elder Scrolls Online, you’ll be glad you did.
