RIFT Sets World Record for In-Game Marriages

Rift Marriage Record
Trion Worlds has yet another RIFT-related feather to stick in its cap. On February 14 ? Valentine?s Day ? players of the company?s massively successful MMO managed to break a bona fide world record by doing something people do all the time in real life: getting married.

The player population of RIFT broke the world record for most in-game marriages in a single 24-hour period, with over 21,000 marriages being certified before the deadline passed. For the non-math inclined, that indicates the participation of 42,000 players.

Guinness World Records has confirmed the record, and is determining whether it will be included in the official 2013 Guinness World Records Gamer Edition. Every player that participated will receive an exclusive title, ?The Avowed.?

Scott Hartsman, executive producer of RIFT, offered some warm words to players who helped put RIFT over the top:

?Establishing this record was a monumental achievement for our development team and community of passionate players, and I couldn?t be more proud. Ascended Weddings were a great way to lift the veil on Rift?s new ?Gatherings? feature, social experiences that bring players together in new and interesting ways. We look forward to expanding this great new gameplay element in the always-evolving world of Telara.?

RIFT is currently offering a free 20-level trial, so if you?re interested you should give the game a shot. Otherwise, we?d like to offer our congratulations to the folks over at Trion Worlds for breaking such a heart-warming record. Nice work, everyone!
