Battlerite Announced, Rising Thunder’s Dead, Dark Omen and more! | The XP 3.11.2016

What’s up Attackers! Kirk here with your weekly block of MMO news. On today’s episode we have Battlerite, Black Desert Online, Rising Thunder, Skyforge, Albion Online and much much more! Actually take one one of the Much’s. Just much more! The XP, starts now!

Stunlock Studios announced this week that they have teamed up with Sanctum and the Goat Simulator developers Coffee Stain Studios to create Battlerite, a new, “TEAM vs TEAM brawler” that is intended to be Bloodline Champions’ spiritual successor. All “random elements” have been stripped from the game’s mechanics. It boasts short, intense matches and a high skill ceiling. A diverse cast of characters promises to give rookies and veterans alike a character they can comfortably play. In addition there will be a so called “fan system” that will allow a form of direct interaction with spectators that are part of the crowd. Players will be able to win the crowd, even if they don’t win the battle. The trailer does not show too much, aside from four champions, and excuse me, I never played Bloodline Champions, but it looks like it may only be 2v2 based on what we see here. You can find more information on the official website, but i’ll give you a quick rundown. It shows only four different champions: Croak, Shift, Freya, and Ashka, One different map, but question marks indicating at least two more, and that’s about it. Cool logo, and name actually. Battle rite.

Dam will be increasing Black Desert Online’s server capacity soon. As we saw via a tweet this week from Black Desert Online to a fan who complained that their server was ridiculously overloaded. Many players share the same resentment, with random disconnects to t he game, lag issues and mob spawn issues, which totally ruin any chance for enjoyment. The Tweet doesn’t give any additional information as to when it might be happening or to what capacity, but at least they are aware of the grief issues that the game is causing fans and are working on fixing those.

Radiant Entertainment this week announced via a newsletter to all of us Rising Thunder alpha participants that their action fighting game from ex-Capcom combat advisor Seth Killian will be shutting down on March 18th. Why may you ask? Well, besides the game being .. meh .. the studio was acquired by none other than Riot Games! Oh man, why would Riot buy them? I dunno, maybe Riot is working on a Fighting Game and they want it to Feature League Characters and they just want to get a head start? Or maybe they are just dicks and want to kill off new free to play games before they get off the ground. Probably the first, but .. I dunno. The newsletter did mention that the dev will be re-assigned to a new game that they are incredibly excited about. I guess we’ll know soon enough.

It has been about a month since Skyforge’s last major update, March of Knowledge, and Allods Team has announced another update called Dark Omen. The update will see an overhaul of Operations. Operations will be shorter in length and the “top players” will be allowed to skip them. Players that make it to one million tokens will now have access to a new progression bar. The Elder God questline will be introduced. Players will be tasked with “[learning] what it takes to become an Elder God” while continuing to fight off Mechanoid Invasions. Additionally, Pantheons will be given an option to merge together. Regardless of the size of the respective Pantheons, they will be able to combine both their members and resources into one larger Pantheon. AND The invasion symbol interface will be streamlined during the update. They will be given their own interface in order to make it quicker and easier to select them. As part of this update, invasion symbols will no longer be reset when you reset “‘regular’ symbols.” Also there was a new Knight Trailer released earlier this month, which you’re watching now. More information about the update—including the full patch notes—is set to be revealed as March 16th draws nearer.

We’ve been talking about Albion Online for what seems like forever now, and the team continues to amaze and excite as the nearly year long beta continues on. The latest upcoming patch called Cador will introduce a new death mechanics, mobile repairs, and zone-based fame and loot bonuses. The new death mechanic prevents instant death. It is explained that instant death mechanics caused issues for groups, making content even more difficult for the surviving members of the group when a member is killed and resurrected far away. Now, players will be knocked out first. And they must be continuously attacked in order to be killed—however, not all mobs will be interested in killing them. If their health points regenerate to full or someone resurrects them while they are knocked out, they will be able to get back up. A new item, the “Repair Kit”—will allow players to repair their items on the go. Rather than always having to do it in town. Repair Kits also cost more than a “full-fledged repair station” and have a limited amount of durability. Also, Fame and loot bonuses are now increased based on the zone. Green zones will allow you to reach “the highest Tiers of progression,” but your progress will be slow. Yellow zones and their Hellgates will grant 50% more fame and loot. Red and black zones and their Hellgates will grant a full 100% more fame and loot.

World of Tanks Update 9.14 is here and it is focused on refining the current user experience with refined physics, sound, and models. Vehicle physics have been improved significantly, so much so that players can now “skid, slide, flip tanks upside down,” and perform various other maneuvers. The sound engine has been ripped out and replaced with Audiokinetic Wwise (which, I’m not sure if it’s a typo or what). Sound is now said to be “processed on a different core,” allowing 10-30 unique sounds simultaneously. A new set of sounds recorded using “authentic vehicles at a real proving ground” have been introduced alongside the new sound engine. Additionally, 24 of the tanks have been given HD models and a new map set in war torn Paris called “Ravaged Capital” has been introduced. You can find the full patch notes on their website!

That’s all I’ve got for you today. Next week i’ll be at GDC, so I may or may not get a video out, or maybe i’ll do one from the hotel room, who knows, depends how I feel. Thanks for watching, see you guys soon!

Paragon, Valiance Online, HoTS , Idle Adventures and more! | The XP 2.19.2016

What’s up Attackers! Friday again, welcome to the XP, February 19th edition. Kirk here with Attack gaming and we’ve got an eclectic mix of games and genres to talk about on today’s show. First off I want to mention that I’ve set up a Patreon account at patreon.com/attack, and i’m going to make a little intro before the XP’s starting maybe next week, instead of Loot Crate, i’ll talk about it more then, but just a heads up. We want to continue making quality videos for you and it’s to get a buck here on YouTube, literally one thousand views is worth $1, so i’ll make a dollar on this episode, anyways, stay tuned for that. On today’s show we have Valiance Online, Paragon, Paladins, Heroes of the Storm and more! The XP, starts now!

After over a year of various testing phases, the City of Heroes-inspired MMORPG Valiance Online has begun crowdfunding in the form of PayPal donations. As the project has been going for some time now, the team is aiming to use donations to cover server costs and pay staff full-time, as well as introduce various features based on how much funding they get, which has become the norm based on the Kickstarter model. The base goal is $46,500 and is the team’s required “upfront investment” that will be used to “pay the bills and [their] employees.”  This level of funding will allow the team to invest more time into improving character creation, introducing Act 1 of the story, and creating “roleplay character attributes,” a quality-of-life feature that will be directed at roleplayers. Further levels of funding focus on more features up to $99,000, but i’m sure if they start getting close to that, we’ll be seeing an increasing number of perks. Social zones, a market system, a crafting system, later acts of the story, even more character creator improvements including the ability to save costumes, repeatable missions, player-owned vendors, a tutorial zone, and an open PvP arena are just a few of the new features listed. To see the full list, head over to the donation page which is valiance.shogn.net/donate . Currently the funding sits at just under three thousand dollars by about 40 backers.

Epic Games showed off a new gameplay video for their upcoming Unreal Engine 4 MOBA, Paragon. The video called ‘rush the core’ features several of their newest heroes like Sparrow, Gideon, while Dekker and Steel and Grux display an assortment of skills and powers on their enemies. The cinematic gameplay looks extremely cool and definitely makes a MOBA player like myself pretty excited about checking the game out, which .. what the hell, how come we’re not in the beat yet? FUCK. Players have been raising concerns regarding card packs in the free-to-play MOBA. Instead of buying items players create their own deck of stat-boosting cards before a match (a la Paladins). By collecting in-game currency they can then purchase additional cards. Hence, recent concerns that the game may provide unfair advantages to players with good credit scores. Cards are an easy system to justify microtransactions in games, but Epic Games recently assured Eurogamer that they will never sell card packs in the in-game shop.

Hi-Rez Studios and Evie, the Winter Witch, helped give us all a tour of the new map reveal for Paladins this week. The Glacier Keep map, which came to us with the Winter Wonderland Patch, is a new siege map and promises to deliver a varied play style when compared to the previous siege maps, Enchanted Forest and Temple Ruins. And that’s all I really have to say about that. Thanks for the tour Evie.

There’s probably nothing more frustrating in a multiplayer game, especially a MOBA, than an unbalanced matchmaking system. Because of the feedback that the team has been getting over this very fact, Blizzard has made a few changes to Heroes of the Storm’s matchmaking system. Good job players! The newly revamped matchmaking system dramatically decreased uneven matches from 44% down to a measly 3%. Apart from a team’s overall skill level the improved system also takes into account individual skill ratings, team composition, and party size so players don’t end up in a match of pugs vs clan: a scenario that solo players face all too often not only in Heroes of the Storm but in other MOBAs as well. Queue times, however, have been affected by the changes, but according to the devs, “We’re okay with [the] time gain if it means we’re creating high-quality games.” Blizzard is also working on further improvements such as preventing certain heroes, like Murky and Nova, among others, from being in the same team. And the developers have implemented a balance patch that slightly nerfs Rehgar, Li-Ming, and Stitches, while giving Anub’arak a better chance of survival.

If there’s anything I like more than locking a new class behind a paywall, then I haven’t found it yet. That’s why, when Devilian told us that the new Tempest class that they’ve been raving about since the Fury of the Tempest patch was first announced, was a measly $9.99, I was hooping’ and hollering’ and getting my wallet ready to dish out the cash! Yes, the new patch does add two new Archedevil dungeons, some level 54 gear sets, a new Raid dungeon and more, all for free, which you’d expect .. locking a class behind a paywall does seem a bit unfair. But then again, if you’re enjoying the game and grow tired of the classes at t his point, maybe it’s worth it. I’m probably not a fair voice as I grew tired of the game after a few hours of playing. Moving on…..

I’m not sure how many of our Subscribers here play mobile games, the video views for most of the mobile games we do don’t seem to be doing the best, but every once in a while it’s nice to talk about this massive, and might I add, still growing market. Jagex has announced Runescape: Idle Adventures, an upcoming idle RPG game for Android, iOS, and PC. The game is being developed in collaboration with Hyper Hippo (classic mobile game developer name). Jagex describes Idle Adventures as “Chilled-out, low-intensity gameplay sitting alongside deep character progression and a light-hearted, comedic story, with nuggets of RuneScape lore unveiled as you progress.” Runescape: Idle Adventures will be available sometime this Spring on PC as a free download on Steam and iOS and Android later in the year, also free to play. Jagex hosted a lifestream on Twitch this morning to talk more about the game, but we missed it, can’t be everywhere at once, I went through a bit of the replay but didn’t find any gameplay.

WEBZEN announced this week that Age of Wulin’s eighth chapter, “Uncharted World,” will be launching on March 8th. Uncharted World will increase the current world’s size by over two fold, adding eight new regions. Everything from deserts to “forests of stone” will be included. Six “secret areas” are also making their way into the game world. A new, survival-esque game mode is also being introduced where players will have to manage constitution, hunger, thirst, and even body temperature in the new zones. Those who survive will learn “new fighting techniques such as traps” and gain access to new resources. Age of Wulin will also be receiving a housing system. Players will be able to choose both the size and style of their house. Over 100 pieces of furniture will be in-game when Uncharted World launches, some of which give “powerful buffs.”

That’s the news i’ve got for you this week, thanks for watching liking and subscribing. I hope you all have a great weekend and we’ll catch you back on Monday. Cheers!

Escape from Tarkov, Pantheon, Rising Waters, Motiga and more! | The XP 2.12.2016

What’s up Attackers! Kirk here with Attack Gaming, bringing you the latest and greatest in the world of MMO gaming news for the week ending February 12th, 2016. There was actually a ton of stuff going on this week, although most of it is pretty bland, or at least, not super interesting, like the revenue reports from companies like Neon, Activision/Blizzard, and NCSoft, or Hi-Rez opening up a new European Office in the UK, and Motiga layoffs. Actually, let’s hit on Motiga after the break. The XP starts now!

Motiga, the studio behind the yet unreleased Windows 10 and Xbox One multi-platform MOBA Gigantic has announced another round of layoffs. On Febuary 9, the studio said that it had to layoff a significant percentage of its staff. The official blog post claims the layoffs are “temporary” and can be reversed if ongoing talks with potential investors pan out. Which essentially means, give us more money please, with a shit-eating grin. Gigantic has been in development since 2010 and has only now started to open up to the public. The game’s NDA was lifted just this week, and of course we got a first impressions video up for it minutes after the NDA went way, GO US, but the Closed Beta remains invite-only. Its not surprising that Motiga has run into financial trouble after nearly six years of operation without a shipped product. What’s unfortunate is how close the studio was to the finish line when it stumbled. The MOBA market as matured since 2010, with many new entrants like Smite and Heroes of the Storm filling the cracks left by League of Legends and Dota 2. Even if the studio can’t raise additional funds, Gigantic is just too close to being finished to go dark. I’m hopeful that either Motiga or someone else will pick up the pieces, put them together, and finally ship Gigantic.

Been a bit since we’ve heard anything about Visionary Realms and Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen. Actually, last time I remember filling my mouth with that game is when they closed their Kickstarter in February 2014 after not being able to meet it’s nearly $1 million goal. But I digress. Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen has been promising to take us back to the days of old when teamwork was necessary at all times. That usually means that there must be a solid healer class somewhere in the mix. Enter the Cleric, which was announced and teased this week by the team. In the lore, the Clerics “bind themselves directly to the ancient directives of their Order, guided by the written wisdom of the Celestials of ages past.” Clerics are healers without equal. They can also buff the defense of allies by using “powerful signets, potent writs, and ethereal armors.” They wear heavy plate armor or “plate-woven raiment,” using “one-handed blunt” weapons. The use of staves has largely diminished so that they can “carry their large tomes into battle.” You can find more information about the Cleric on the official website, but the worst part is they only have one damn image of the Cleric, so I can’t even go in and make a 30 second video with cheesy music and some moving pictures to poach some YouTube views. Lame!

Escape From Tarkov made quite the entrance when it was first announced back in November. Created by Battlestate Games—the creators of Contract Wars—Escape From Tarkov is promising something different than the current shooter genre provides. In it, you complete missions for one of two warring military factions and ultimately aim to escape the city of Tarkov. There’s been only one problem as of yet—we don’t really know all that much about the game. The developers though re hoping to change that and are slowly tossing out a set of video developer diaries. The first diary covers the lengths the team has gone to to ensure realism in the handling and sound of guns, as well as motion capture, procedural animation, and several other features. It’s an interesting watch and it gets the point across that they are aiming for authenticity. You can watch the video below via the link below and check out the Beta sign-ups are ongoing on the official website, escape from tarkov dot com.

Blade and Soul’s first major content patch, Rising Waters, is now live. The expansion challenges players to face the Blackram pirates once again in the new 4-player Bloodshade Harbor instance. Players who want more of a challenge can take on the 24-player version of the instance, Nightshade Harbor. The first seven floors of another dungeon, Mushin’s Tower, are now available. This is a single-player Heroic Dungeon that will require players to face more difficult challenges floor after floor for a chance at increasingly better rewards. You begin the tower by choosing an opponent from six different opponents, each with their own fighting style. If successful, you must then pick another opponent to face before moving on to the next floor. The full list of challenges can be found on the Rising Waters mini-site. The first five Hongmoon Levels have also been added. These levels allow advancement beyond the current level cap of 45. Each Hongmoon Level will grant players more skill and stat points.

En Masse Entertainment announced today that they will be publishing C4M’s tactical, competitive RTS Battleplans on PC and mobile later this spring. Battleplans is a different kind of RTS that “splits offensive battles and defensive planning into two distinct phases of the game.” Players are tasked with laying siege to NPC or player-controlled territories that are then defended with “comprehensive defense strategies.” An assortment of heroes and units are available to aid in accomplishing this goal. The developers are already boasting “simple, intuitive controls” that allow ease of use and quick decision making. En Masse CEO Chris Lee stated that “Battleplans is a great strategy game for players interested in actually controlling the units they send into combat. It provides engaging gameplay but isn’t bogged down by micromanagement.” A Closed Beta for the PC version will be held later this month before launching on Android, iOS, and PC later this spring. You can sign up for access on the official website.

Funcom appears to be trying to usher in a new era of Anarchy Online. There’s the new rendering engine. There’s a new website. And now there’s the new Rubi-Ka region, The Reck. The Reck is part of a content update that went live this week. You can enter the region through Tir and Omni-1 Trade The primary purpose of the zone is to provide players with “camps and encounters” that help them level level their characters through “title levels 4 and 5.” The region will be accessible to anyone, but dailies will be restricted to characters in the level 90-170 range. Encounters in this region are built for players in the level 90-220 range. Many of the camps will require players to explore to find them.

That’s all I’ve got for you today. Toss this video a like and a subscribe and i’ll see you guys next week! Ciao!

The Culling, H1Z1x2, Bless Online Comes West and more! | The XP 2.5.2016

Welcome Back Attack!  Kirk here with Attack Gaming and today we’re going to finish off your week right, with a dose of MMO gaming news.  Some big stories on the show today, including what many have thought about H1Z1 for years now, Bless coming to the west, new stuff in Hearthstone, The Culling and more!  The XP starts now!

So, Daybreak Games just announced today that the zombie survival game H1Z1 will be splitting into two separate games on this upcoming February 17th, with the titles H1Z1: Just Survive, which will focus solely on the open-world-post-apocalyptic experience that the game was originally brought up on, and H1Z1: King of the Kill, which is the last player standing shooter that has become somewhat of a favorite of players over the past few months.  Players who bought into the Early Access for $19.99 will be getting both versions of the games, and all the crates, keys and items will be duplicated across both games.  The guys at Daybreak will also be splitting up the development team between the two titles and once split, the games will each cost $19.99 and will NOT be free to play at any point.  This may signal a change for Daybreak as a company going into the future.  Time will tell.

Devilian unveils a new class in its first major content update as Trion is set to release The Fury of the Tempest on February 18th in their free to play action RPG.  The Fury of the Tempest update will introduce a whip and blade wielding acrobatic warrior type character, which you can see in this iPod-esque trailer as we speak.  Trion says of The Tempest “the dynamic Tempest Class has mastered the art of blades in battle; she is skilled in both acrobatics and the transformation of the weapons she wields.”  Along with the new class, the update will increase the level cap to 54, add new gear slots as well as a new raid dungeon and two new Archdevil dungeons.  Trion is also hosting  live-stream on Twitch which begins at 2:30pm PST today, which is probably right around the time t his video is release.  So, the 50 of you who watch this video right when we release it should jump on over right now to twitch.tv/trionworlds

According to a Bless Online Fan Site a Neowiz Games Business Manager has confirmed that publishing contracts for both a European and North American release for the fantasy MMORPG Bless Online are being finalized as we speak.  Now, the important information like when the game will release and what business model will be in place were not discussed, at least not in front of the fly on the wall.  Bless Online is a medieval European inspired world that’s been torn apart by two warring factions.  The Korean open beta launched late last month after the dev team delayed the project for a number of major fixes, but an English release has been speculated for some time now after Neowiz released a trailer with English voice overs.  Stay tuned here for more details on Bless Online, should be a good one!

May 30th will be the last day that you can play in CCP’s PS3-exclusive first person sh otter, DUST 514, as the company has told us that they will be shutting the game down.  Not really a big surprise though, as I’ve heard next to nothing about DUST 514 in years, and the fact that most of it’s hardcore player base was playing EVE Online on PC, while DUST could only be played exclusively on the PS3, which was at the end of its time on its earth anyways.  The team at CCP Shanghai though has already moved on to a new project, this time it’s another first person shooter but .. for PC, GOOD!  The goal is to build a great FPS in their sci-fi universe of New Eden using the Unreal Engine 4.  The team will no doubt have much more to talk about during the EVE Fanfest this year which takes place at the end of April.

Hearthstone, Hearthstone Heart HuhStone will be introducing two new play formats coming this Spring as Blizzard this week announced the new formats for their Warcraft themed blockbuster trading card game.  The new formats will be titled Standard and Wild, which the goal to quote “keep the game fresh, exciting and accessible for years to come.”  The Standard format will be used in Play mode and will be available in Friendly Challenges, Ranked and Casual Play.  The decks in standard will be played using decks built from cards release both this year and last, and will be the format used in Hearthstone’s Championship Tour, starting this year.  The Wild format is the Hearthstone that we already know, and bears the name because quote “anything can happen” Any card you own can be used in a wild deck, and wild decks will be used to complete quests, climbs the ladder and earn Legend Rank.  Additionally, they are adding in 9 new deck slots to bring you up to 18, but only if you’ve unlocked all nine heroes.

Lastly there was a new game announced this week that seems pretty cool and something that I think a lot of you might be interested in, it’s a pretty cool concept, not super unique, and with the new H1Z1: King of the Hill game, this is basically a direct competitor, but the game is called The Culling.  The Culling is a survival based battle royale game where 16 players will be thrown together on a remote island, where they will have 20 minutes to craft weapons, set traps and ultimately come down to one player outlasting all the rest.  Think The Hunger Games, that’s what immediately comes to mind to me.  Like many other survival games, The Culling will be entering Early Access on Steam on March 8th and you can find out more information on their newly launched website, the culling dot com.

That’s all I’ve got for you today, thank you so much for watching and supporting us here at Attack Gaming.  Throw this video a like and a subscribe if you’re not already, and we’ll see you guys next week!

Master X Master, Riders of Icarus, SNOW and more! | The XP 1.29.2016

What’s up Attackers! Happy Friday, Happy January 29th and welcome to the XP. I felt like my email was bombarded with press releases this week, literally couldn’t even look away for a minute before getting another notification for some new browser-based blah blah with a new mini-chipmunk pet in it. So as always, I’ll try to sift through the news and bring up what I think are the most interesting stories for the week here on this episode of the XP. Let’s get it started.

The Duelist January 2016 ranked season will be coming to an end shortly, and for those of you who reach Silver, Gold, Diamond or S-Rank will earn some extra rewards, in the form of epic, legendary or rare card, sorry, card. You get one card, except S-Rank, who gets the monthly common and a random legendary. For those of you not in the know about Duelist, it’s a free to play, tactical turn-based strategy game. We’ve checked the game out on this channel, and had a pretty fun time, and you can too, like I said, it’s free, so type Duelyst, with a y, into your google box and find it.

We’ve seen very little from Gaijin Entertainment and Targem Games combat vehicle game Crossout, but a new video shows off some of the insane battles in action. The video highlights the crazy concoctions of vehicles that players can create, as well as all the explosions, and parts flying off in every which way that you can handle in any minute long stretch. Along with the video the teams have said that closed battle testing began on January 27th and will run through February 7th. You will need to have a special invitation in order to play, and there is a strict NDA that you have to sign, so I can’t say whether or not we got in or not .. YES I CAN, WE DID!! You didn’t hear it from me. You can sign up for the beta still, as there is what, 9 or so days left to play at crossout dot net slash en slash play.

Nearly two years ago, no, over two years ago, can you believe we’ve been doing this that long? Two-ish years ago a game really caught my eye, because it was about snowboarding. Now, one of my first memories from the playstation two from years and years and years ago, was this stupid little demo of a snowboarding game, I can’t remember the name of it now, and I’m too lazy to look it up, so maybe help me out in the comments, but that game was so incredibly fun, and i’d love to re-visit it. SO anyways, fast-forward, and I hear news of a free to play sports MMO, based on Snowboarding. That game, simply titled SNOW, is now finally on Steam for its open beta, starting yesterday. SNOW introduces free-roam, competitive events and leaderboards as it hits Steam, as well as the option to purchase cosmetic items to make your snowboarder look exactly how you think you’d look up on the slopes. The game is gorgeous, as you can see in the video, and also very fun to play, so go check it out on Steam now!

What is this, 2014? No .. no it’s not, but I guess it’s still cool to announce new MOBAs out into the world. I guess NCSoft has more of a name brand than company X with a MOBA that no one has seen before with some awesome new feature that we didn’t ask for. Anyways, NCSoft announced a new action MOBA this week, and I say announced because it looks like players have been able to play MXM, Master X Master, for some time now in the east. But Master X Master will be free to play, and it’s ‘unique’ feature will be the Tag System, which will allow players to swap between characters mid-combat. That’s basically what i’ve always wanted in Dota. The game already has a roster of 30 characters, including some characters from titles we’d recognize like Blade & Soul and Guild Wars 2. At this time you can sign up for the newsletter at play mxm dot com, but the teaser site doesn’t show much more than that.

Another new MMORPG was announced this week, this one is from Nexon and WeMade Entertainment and its title is Riders of Icarus. Riders of Icarus is an aerial combat MMO using flying mounts. I guess that’s not all it’s about, but that’s one of its distinguishing features. The main producer of RoI said of the game, that there are many games with dragons and other flying mounts, but they hardly ever impact battles in a meaningful and entertaining way. In Riders of Icarus, mounts truly add another level of challenge and excitement, delivering expansive vertical gameplay in addition to action-oriented ground mount combat. A local server beta test is actually going on right now, from Jan 28th to February 2nd in North America and our amigos to the south, Mexico. A larger closed beta test which will include Europe, Australia and New Zealand, will be coming at a later date.

One more story for the day. A new hero is joining the ranks of the free to play team shooter Gigantic. His name is, oh, her. Kinda hard to tell .. umm, her name is Beckett, and she is a ranged hero that focuses on being super fast and having explosive and pistols and grenades and cannons and jetpacks and all that fun stuff. With the release of Becket, the Gigantic team also announced that the closed beta test for Xbox One and Windows 10 is running 24/7 from now through the end of the weekend. AND, players can now share their experiences via streams. So even if you can’t jump into the beta for whatever reason, open up Twitch, search Gigantic and check it out for yourselves.

That’s all I’ve got for you today, please be sure to toss down a like, and if you’re not subscribed, go ahead and hit that button too, it’s free, doesn’t cost nothing, and really helps us grow the channel. Thanks again for watching, have a great gaming weekend and i’ll see you on the other side!

HeroWarz, Granado Espada, SMITE World Championships and more! | The XP 1.8.2016

What’s up Attackers!  Kirk here with Attack Gaming and now that the Holidays are over, the crazy schedule should return back to normal, and I can get back to these weekly Friday news videos.  I really hate missing weeks, but stuff just gets in the way.  Anyways, enough chit-chat, let’s jump into business.  On this week’s episode we have changes at Gazillion, the Smite World Championships, HeroWarz, Granada Espada and more!  The XP starts now!

Fresh news out today out of Gazillion Entertainment, and I don’t know how much this will change anything with Marvel Heroes, but it’s definitely something worth mentioning quickly.  David Brevik, the CEO of Gazillion and one of the main guys behind the 3D action RPG Marvel Heroes, has ended his 6 year run with the company to pursue other opportunities.  It sounds like the move was all on his own and amicable, but I would think this hurts Gazillion more than we would think as he came from a past that includes being the head of Blizzard North, the studio that created the Diablo franchise.  Either way, good luck to David in the future!

The Smite World Championships kicked off yesterday and will continue on through Saturday January 10th when the finals do take place.  I’ve actually been watching quite a bit of the tournament so far, which has been pretty entertaining.  I’ve seen upwards of 40,000 people watching the Twitch stream at one time, which is paltry compared to League or Dota, but still, quite a nice audience for them.  The tournament is very well done so far, and very professional, on par with what we see from the larger MOBA tournaments.  A few cool things have come out from Hi-Rez so far, including announcing the Japanese pantheon coming soon, with the first goddess Ama Ter Asu and a new 3v3 joust map.  Additionally Hi-Rez released a brand new mobile game, Jetpack Fighter which is a fast-paced platformer.  I’m currently downloading Jetpack Fighter, so I hope to get a First Impressions video out to you guys soon, stay tuned.  And check out the World Championships at twitch.tv/smite.

Maybe this is not for you guys, I know it’s not for me, but Granado Espada an OLD school, and I do mean old, an old school MMO from IMCGames, originally released in 2007 here in the states, 2006 overseas, has just come to Steam as of yesterday.  The game is free to play, but according to many of the reviews already posted on Steam, the game is very pay to win and pretty painful to play in the late game with tons of grinding involved, or spending of your moneys.  It does seem like the early game could be pretty fun, so I may check it out myself, haven’t yet convinced myself to download it, but maybe this weekend.  Some of the more interesting reasons to check out Granado Espada would be the three person party, which lets you control 3 characters at once and the chance to choose from over 100 characters for your journey.  Let me know if you play/played Granado before in the comments below!

KOG Games is getting ready to bring their free to play Action MMO, HeroWarz to the states, and they are beginning that push by setting up a new Facebook Page and revealing a teaser site that showcases the very sexualized heroes, and a trailer that doesn’t really show anything, which you can see playing over my voice now.  HeroWarz has been available overseas for quite some time now, but the localization for Western audiences should give us more of a reason to check the game out.  KOG Games describes HeroWarz as a stand-alone MOBA based, PvP Environment that promotes competitive and fast paced action with a character line-up that goes beyond that of the standard RPG side.  That’s either some really clever and over-compensative marketing, or the best game ever .. i dunno.

Lastly, there are a couple of beta events for new MMOs coming soon, these may not be the most exciting games around, but always worth mentioning new games to check out.  Linkrealms begins its winter beta event on January 9th.  Link realms is an old-school sandbox MMORPG from indie developers Mythyn Interactive.  Also, a Zelda inspired MMORPG entered open beta this week, Twilight Rising is a 2D game that looks very much early early early Zelda-ish.  The game, even in its open beta, features over 700 unique maps and hundreds of unique items, while selecting from 4 different races and 2 classes per race.  Twilight Rising can be downloaded at twrising.com.  While Link Realms is at linkrealms.com.

That’s all I’ve got for you today, thanks as always for tuning in and making it all the way to the end of the video, you have leveled up!  Please like and subscribe, and we’ll see you all next week!

Crossfire 2.0, Ghost in the Shell, Balance of Power and more! | The XP 12.18.2015

What’s up Attackers! Happy Friday, December 18th, almost Christmas time, I hope Santa brings you guys some new memory, maybe a new video card, or heck .. even that shiny new solid-state drive you’ve been looking at on Amazon for the past three months. Whatever it is, I hope you have a fantastic time with your family and I truly do appreciate you guys watching and commenting on our videos. Thanks so much!

On today’s episode of the show we’ll be talking about Crossfire 2.0, World of Warships, Dota 2’s balance of power update, a rough start for Devilian, Ghost in the Shell’s early access, Skyforge, Riot Games and more! The XP starts now.

Smilegate Entertainment, developers of the immensely, and no I’m not just saying that word to sound all fancy-like, IMMENSELY popular online shooter game CrossFire, announced this week that version 2.0 of the game was now available to download in North America, and maybe in your country, I dunno, I dunno where you live. We took a look at CrossFire as recently as last month, and .. not impressed, it just wasn’t fun and didn’t look work anyones time, but 2.0 should make a huge difference. A graphical overhaul, a new UI, new simuluations, ranked matches and much more have arrived. We will be taking a look at version 2.0 with our First Impressions video coming up soon. Hopefully by next week, so stay tuned.

If you’ve wanted to play World of Warships, the semi-realistic wartime warship shooter game from Wargamin.net, but were always like “yeah, I’d play but .. I wish they had some anime warships?”, well .. you can no longer use that excuse. That’s right, in the near future, specially designed warships inspired by the anime and manga ‘Arpeggio of Blue Steel – Ars Nova’ will be coming to World of Warships. The flashy new fleet will be available via a series of in-game missions that will grant players access to the new ships. Still won’t have me playing.

A new update has landed in Dota 2, bringing players a whole new mess of cool stuff with it, sure enough to bring back any players who dared spend a week away from the game. The Balance of Power Update adds a new hero, Arc Warden, of which we’ll have a first impressions video for shortly, as well as an awesome Arcana skin for Zeus, a desert terrain pack which also looks pretty sick, UI improvements and the 6.86 gameplay update. Zet, the Arc Warden is an entity made of the primordial power of the ancients who has sworn himself to end the fight between the radiant and the dire, good luck with that, no matter what it takes, again .. good luck buddy! His skill set includes electricity, magnetic fields and some summons. You’ll also find a map change with new paths, two new creep camps, by the secret shops and private chat channels among the many updates in the patch. I’d check out the dota 2 website if you want to know more, there’s a literal fuck-ton.

As I mentioned last week, Devilian, the brand new free to play hack’n’slash styled MMO from Trion Worlds released last week and they’re already having some issues. Well, one issue in particular. Players on the Seadrift served logged in over the weekend, hoping to pick up where they left off, slay some baddies, level up, get some new gear .. only to find that a server update had wiped their characters progress. After the server restart on December 12, players found they’d lost experience, items and credit for completed quests. The Devilian team, for t heir part, has kept players up to date on what’s going on, and distributed gear tokens and marketplace items to replace ones that players had lost.

Neson’s free to play Ghost in the Shell team shooter, First Assault is officially available on Steam’s Early Access this week as the game launched on the service. To play, you’ll need to have one of four different Early Access Packs that range from $4.99 up to $30.00, OR $51.00 if you want to buy all four packs at once. Which, cool .. good for you! First Assault early access offers players seven playable Section 9 operatives, 3 team-based modes and 5 maps inspired by the Stand Alone Complex Series. Go check out Ghost in the Shell on Steam now!

Last thing I wanted to mention today was the new region in Skyforge, Usuni Valley. Allods Team and Obsidian Entertainment opened the new region yesterday, for players who have reached 187,000 prestige to explore. Usuni Valley was once a serene place, surrounded by beautiful mountains and friendly beasts, locked away from the harsh realities of the world. But now .. you guessed it .. not quite the same. The inhabitants of the valley have been victims of invading forces, and the area has been ravaged and destroyed. The villagers, however, have not given up and are willing to reward YOU, for helping turn away the invaders so they can take back their land. If you’re able to help, you will be rewarded with equipment and continued development on your Atlas. Sounds fun.

That’s all I’ve got for you today! Be sure to like and subscribe to this video, I know I ask you every week, but it really does help! I hope you have a great weekend, a great Christmas or Holiday Season, and we’ll see you next week! Buh bye!

Endwar Online Beta, Paladins Evie, Devilian and more! | The XP 12.04.2015

What’s up Attackers! Kirk here with your December 4th edition of The XP, where I break down some of my favorite stories happening in the MMO world for the week. I hope everyone’s had a great start to December, with winter breaks coming up and ample opportunities for some winter-time gaming while you’re parents are yapping away with uncle Ben and Aunt Jemima downstairs. On this week’s episode we have Lord of the Rings Online, AD2460, a new champion in Paladins, Tom Clancy’s Endwar, Dragomon Hunter and more! The XP starts now!

The latest closed beta patch for Hi-Rez’s free to play team shooter Paladins introduced the first new character, aside from all the characters being technically ‘new’, to the game. The Winter Witch Evie brings with her a classic hit-and-run gameplay style and some cool mis-direction abilities like Teleportation and Illusions. The 0.8 patch to Paladins also brought some other new features including a system that will help you deal with players who bail in the middle of matches, who by the way are my most hated people of all-time, and tweaks to existing maps and new cards.

Today, the space-based Sci-Fi strategy game AD2460 announced a brand new patch, and, most importantly, that the web-based MMO will be going free to play. That’s right, come December 7th, a mere 3 days from now, the game will go from a subscription-based game to a free to play game due to the anticipated user growth, not user growthing, which is imperative in an MMO. The game does have a 15 day free trial however, so basically you can sign up today and continue on with free to play when your trial ends. The developer, 5th Season is very clear with their stance against pay to win, so they say there will be no elements of that in the free to play version, the elements you can spend money on will be based around fun and customization.

Update 17.1 is coming for Lord of the Rings Online and as usual will come with a long list of bug fixes and improvements to the game. There aren’t a huge number of things I wanted to talk about with this new update, but one in particular I did want to mention, and it’s not the first time we’ve seen this tactic in an MMO game. Blessing of Valar is a new item that you can purchase that will instantly boost your character’s level to 95. That’s right, buy this item and you can jump to 5 levels below the max level. This can be taken both ways I think, 1. It’s a great idea because it will help new people wanting to enter the game a chance to see some end-game content and higher level play without committing a TON of hours, but 2. It sucks because all the hard-work loyal players have put in to make it to that level and you’ll be playing with quote unquote ‘Noobs’ at end level content? I want to know what you think about this sort of item, in favor of, or hate it? Let me know in the comments.

Dragomon Hunter and Aeria Games went massive this week, adding in a new PvP arena that will finally introduce large-scale, nay, massive-scale battles to the game. The new battlefield, The Final Frontier, will feature 300 vs 300 battles that can raise your Star Rank, allow you to use a unique War Mount on the battlefield and earn massive Battlefield points you can trade in for new rewards. So how do you participate in The Final Frontier? Well, you have to be level 30, in which you will automatically receive the quest “Red vs. Blue” and you’ll have to complete that and then choose a faction. So after the question and you’ve chosen a faction, you’re ready to battle. During the battle there is a 10-minute preparation period and a 30 minute timed battle, where there will be one player selected as Warlord, and two others selected as his or her Centurions. The Final Frontier is only avaialable twice per day on Tuesdays, Thursdays Saturdays and Sundays, so check it out if you’re level 30!

Trion’s Free to play action-RPG Devilian kicked off it’s Open Beta this week, and will run until December 7th at 1AM EST. After the beta, the team will begin to prep for its official launch, which is scheduled for December 10th. We took a look at Devilian in October and you can find that video on our channel if you’re interested to see what it’s about. Also going into open beta this week was Ubisoft’s Tom Clancy’s Endwar Online. On December 3rd the open beta began and launched with a new PvP mode, War Game in which players will use special decks, yes, another game with card elements, while offering big rewards. You can check out the Endwar Online open beta by creating an account on their website, which at the time of my writing, had been hugged to death by the internet, so hopefully by now you can check it out at endwaronline.com.

That’s all I’ve got for you today, thanks so much for tuning in and subscribing and commenting, remember the question I asked you earlier? I hope you’re having an awesome Friday and an awesome weekend, happy December!

Warcraft Movie, ARK Gigantosaurus, Escape from Tarkov and more! | The XP 11.6.2015

What’s up Attackers! Happy Friday, hope everyone had an awesome Halloween. Kirk here with your weekly dose of MMO news right here from your friends at Attack Gaming. On today’s episode I’m gonna school you on Albion Online, Forge of Empires, ARK, World of Warcraft and probably a bit more. If you’re lucky. The XP starts .. .. now!

Sandbox Interactive today published a brand new state of the game letter for October, introducing fans of Albion Online to what the developers have been working on, including the arrival of the highly anticipated Closed Beta testing event scheduled to take place at the end of this month. Fans from around the world will be delighted to hear that the team have also been working on translating the client for different regions, with English, German, French, Russian, Brazilian-Portuguese, Polish and Spanish, all planned for release some time during the Closed Beta event.
In the state of the game letter the team also squeezed in some questions pitched by the community. The more exciting information as a result of the questions is that both the original and new continent will be available during the Closed Beta, Silver will be used mainly for repairs and certain armor pieces have undergone some resistance improvements.
The team have also been working on other elements of the game including:
Reduction to crafting costs
Huge balance changes to farming and consumables
New animations and improved sounds
An overhaul to the Destiny Board
Brand new avatar icons
The debut of a new weapon type, the Quarterstaff
For the full lowdown on the many changes coming to Albion Online during the Closed Beta and beyond, check their official website.

The popular city building simulator from InnoGames, Forge of Empires, has taken a step towards new horizons this week as the developers release a brand new age, The Future. Beginning today the rulers of Forge of Empires can embark on an entirely new journey into the future, allowing aspiring city builders to research new technologies, recruit new units and construct new buildings.
The introduction of the new age also sees the addition of a brand new story line that sees players explore an exciting new plot with corruption, dirty warfare and the struggle for basic resources all providing an immersive story-based experience. Among the other assets introduced with the arrival of The Future include the exoskeleton soldier, the satellite spotter, the hover tank, the drone swarm and the rail gun as new units with the Food Printer and Levitation Outlet as new buildings.

The hugely diverse list of species on the challenging island of ARK: Survival Evolved grew one further today as developers Studio Wildcard reveal the release of a beast of epic proportions, the Giganotosaurus. Currently sitting atop the food chain as one of the biggest carnivores in the game, the Giganotosaurus is an enormous and deadly new predator that looks down upon even the Tyrannosaurus and Spinosaurus.
Only the best equipped hunters of ARK: Survival Evolved will have the skills to take down the new flagship dinosaur. Designed as an intense late-game challenge for the best players and most skilled Tribes, the Gigantosaurus is arguably the most challenging enemy in-game to date. Studio Wildcard also today introduced two swords and a set of primitive and modern shields. You can check all those out in game, or via the video playing right now. I’ll let it sink in for a bit.

The official Twitter account for the upcoming World of Warcraft Motive posted a Tweet this week revealing a brand new movie trailer as well as a date for an upcoming trailer. The worldwide release of the new trailer will take today, but hasn’t yet at the time of me recording this, I wouldn’t be able to put up any video of it anyway in fear of getting flagged, so be sure to keep an eye out for the video! The Tweet did however included some exciting media in the form of a brand new poster for the upcoming Warcraft movie. Which you’re watching me scroll ever so slowly across your screen.

Battlestate Games yesterday presented Escape from Tarkov – a hardcore MMO mixture of FPS/TPS and RPG. The game pushes the boundaries of genres and offers a new kind of gameplay based on a multitude of tactical and combat factors and the use of additional modules that improve game realism. Events take place in a realistic setting in the Russian city of Tarkov. Main characters work for two private military companies locked in bloody conflict on the streets of the settlement surrounded by UN forces and Russian Military. Players need to find a way out of the isolated Tarkov, survive the deadly hazards and unearth all mysteries of the city. Following the wildly twisted plot, heroes of Escape from Tarkov meet many dangers – from hostile mercenaries of enemy faction to aggressive environment. Death may come suddenly in a multitude of ways: character may perish because of consequences of different injuries, illnesses, exhaustion and radiation poisoning. To survive in a harsh and unpredictable world, players use numerous MMO system modules: users can control all actions and movements of their character and choose from a wide range of behaviors and tactics. You’re watching the video which was released yesterday now, but Escape from Tarkov is planning for a closed beta test in early 2016. Players can register for more information and the beta test on the official site of the project: www.escapefromtarkov.com .

That’s all I’ve got for you today, be sure to leave this video a like and give us a subscribe for more. Have a great weekend everybody!

Heart of Thorns, Otherland, Robocraft and more! | The XP 10.24.2015

heart-of-throns-otherland-robocraft-xp

What’s up Attackers! Kirk here with another edition of The XP, bringing you the latest happenings in the world of MMO. I know, I’m late again .. this time though, I have a better excuse. I was up at a press event with Obisdian Entertainment in LA to talk to hear about Skyforge and Armored Warfare, I should have some videos coming from the event shortly, so stay tuned. On this episode we’ll talk about Robocraft, Wild Terra, Guild Wars 2 and otherland. All that and more on today’s episode of the XP.

Robocraft, the indie robot fighting game has released their League of Mech update. The main part of the update includes the addition of mech legs which give your robot more of a mech-fighter feel while in battle. You can see from the video that their are a ton of options for the mech legs which give you a whole new playstyle for the game. Additionally the update brought a new game launcher and leagues, which will allow you to show off your robot building and battling skills.

Our friends over at Juvty Worlds let us know that they have opened up their test server to anyone and everyone interested in checking out their still in development, multiplayer online role playing game, Wild Terra. THe open test server started on October 22nd and will run for a few more days, up until October 26th. We checked out the game not too long ago and our very own Skylent Shore had a decent time playing so that’s why we thought we’d bring up a much smaller title on today’s show. The test client will work seperately from the main client and won’t interfere with play. You can download it at files.playwildterra.com/dev.

Black Eye Games released an extensive update aimed at improving the competitive combat elements of Gloria Victis this week, along with huge improvements to the environment and new locations and objects. The Mount and Blade style MMO already has a rather large following, even in its early stages of development thanks to a skill-based combat system taht rewards players based on their ability, not the level of their items. One of the most exciting elements to hit in this update is the headshot detection in PvP combat, which allows players to deal huge amounts of damage if they are able to land a powerful blow to the head.

The long awaited Guild Wars 2 expansion, Heart of Thorns officially went live this week and to commemorate the event ArenaNet released an infographic highlighting some of the various milestones since the game first launched. Boasting 7 million players, which is no small feat, Guild Wars 2 players have played 1.4 billion hours, and sent 223 million gifts.
An update in Otherland added over 120 new quest, 10 additional levels to your characters max and more. The update titled, ‘The 8 Squared Conflict, went live this week and gave players even more of an incentive to join the White Army forces. New locations were also added in the update like the Mausoleum and the Red Castle and like I said, increased the level cap to 40. Additionally, bug fixes and a reworking of male characters and zone transitions were also added by Drago Entertainment during the update.

That’s all I’ve got for you today, hope you’re having a great Saturday and be sure to check out our additional videos coming up from Obsidian Entertainment! Cya.

GTA Lowriders, Overwatch beta, Echo of Soul Warlocks and more! | The XP 10.20.2015

What’s up Attackers! Kirk here to bring you all the latest happenings in the MMO world for the past, I guess, 10-11 days. Yes, normally this video comes out on Friday, but I was taking a mini-vacation and couldn’t really get to it, you’d be surprised how much work this video takes! Anyways, on today’s episode we have Defiance, Trove, Devilian, Echo of Soul, Overwatch and more! The XP starts now!

Over the weekend we found out that SyFy would not be renewing the science fiction, obviously, TV show Defiance for what would be its fourth season. I’m not here to discuss how great the show was, never watched it to be honest, and although I love talking TV, maybe an idea for another channel, let’s just assume the show fell off a cliff. Anyways, we’re more concerned with the Defiance MMO from Trion Worlds, what was gonna happen to that!? CEO Scott Hartsman said this “Defiance is Trion’s IP and the game will continue exactly as before. The show has always been a fantastic and interesting partner, but the two were always meant to be able to stand on their own.” So we assume for now, the game will remain unchanged for the foreseeable future, and I can go along and pretend the TV show never existed.

Last week, on October 14th, the award-winning and critically acclaimed voxel-based RPG from .. will you look at this, also Trion Worlds, announced that it was ready to expand to an entirely new audience, the huge video game playerbase of, drum roll please .. Mac. Macs? Apple? The computer company that only has about 10% of the worlds computer sales, that one. The original PC version of Trove launched earlier this year, in July and has amassed over 3.3 million registered players, and now they can expect .. .2 million more! Maybe, I dunno, I don’t do the math stuff. The Mac launch includes 12 playable classes, procedurally generated dungeons, challenging lairs and loot, all sorts of loot. You can play Trove on your Mac computer NOW.

I swear I didn’t do this on purpose, I pinky fucking swear it. Trion Worlds announced last week that the very first public closed beta event would be taking place for its new MMORPG game Devilian later this month on October 22nd. The beta will run through October 26th and players with previous access to Alpha testing will be able to take part in the event. Trion describes Devilian as a frantic and devilish action RPG experience. Sign up for Devilian using the link below and let us know what you think when the closed beta hits later this week! OK, no more news from Trion. I hope.

The latest class to join the free to play MMORPG, Echo of Soul is the Warlock. The Warlock comes in two specializations, the Tormentor and the Reaper. The Tormentor specializes in dealing massive amounts of damage over time by wielding an array of curses, while the reaper is a deadly master of melee combat who leach power from their foes and destroy them. The Warlock comes to us via the 1.5 patch which also adds two new dungeons, a tier 5 Infinite Solo Dungeon and a Tier 6 Party Dungeon with new boss monsters. The first player on each server to level their Warlock to level 60 will receive a special title, while anyone who gets to level 60 with their Warlock by October 31st will receive a special costume. Most likely, Halloween themed. Don’t bet me on that.

This is probably too late to report on, but since it’s my fault I’m late on this video I’m still gonna say it just in case you missed it in the past week even though I’m sure every video game website has already let you know about it. Overwatch, the arena shooter type game from Blizzard announced that October 27th would be the launching of the Closed Beta client as us peasants await the first wave of invites for public testers. The team will be focusing on two major goals during its first public Closed Beta event, one is to get TONS of feedback form players on topics such as gameplay, balance and performance, as well as a hammering out of technical hiccups and making adjustments to the infrastructure. To try your luck at getting invited to the very limited closed beta, check out battle.net.

Rockstar Games today released an exciting new update for Grand Theft Auto Online as Lowriders are now available on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, via a free to download automatic update that was released today. The latest addition to the world of Grand Theft Auto sees Benny’s Original Motor Works introduced to the city of Los Santos, bringing with it a huge variety of customization options specifically tailored towards Lowrider cars. Two new vehicles have also been introduced, including the Declasse Moonbeam van and the Willard Faction. These two vehicles join four existing vehicles in-game to bolster the Lowrider options for players. The new Lowriders can be customized in a huge variety of ways including Hydraulics, Engines, Steering Wheels, Rims, Tires, Gear Shift Levers, Horns, Bobbleheads, rear window Plaques, Vanity Plates & Plate Holders, Soundsystem Mods, custom Paint Jobs and more. The team have also introduced three new Adversary Modes including Keep the Pace, Offense Defense and Relay. The Keep the Pace Adversary Mode is a play on the Speed movie, keeping players above a certain speed through the fear of imminent death via explosion. Finally players can now purchase an additional property, to include a total of four Apartment and Garage options for players to pick up – alongside a 25% rebate at Dynasty 8 for launch week of the update.

That’s all I’ve got for you today, be sure to leave this video a like, a subscribe and comment. Thanks for watching, have a great day!

ASTA, ELOA, Battlecry, Dragon’s Prophet and more! | The XP 10.9.2015

What’s up Attackers, Kirk here with your weekly MMO News for October 9th, 2015. On today’s episode we have a couple new, or at least new to you, games that we can start looking forward to, as well as another MMO death, which is becoming increasingly more common. All that and more on today’s episode of the XP.

Webzen’s Asian inspired fantasy MMO Asta: The War of Tears and Winds has just announced its first beta test which is scheduled for this November. What’s really cool about this beta, and what we’d hope many games would do, is that the beta test is fairly long and mostly unrestricted. Starting on November 3rd, all players with a free Webzen account will be able to check the game out. So that’s pretty cool, we’ll all get to check out the character creation, talent trees, PvP battlegrounds, the crafting systems and all that good stuff. Unfortunately, all progress will be wiped at the end of the beta, but I guess that’s to be expected. You can check out the sort of brand new beta trailer playing above my voice now!

A Bethesda spokesperson recently spoke to an Australian video game site, Progress Bar, about why Battlecry didn’t make an appearance at the recent EB Expo, and the statement given, is less than promising. And I quote “We have concerns about the Battlecry game and whether it is meeting the objectives we have for it. We are evaluating what improvements the game needs to meet our quality standards. The studio remains busy during this process on multiple projects”. So I’ve got to play Battlecry at the past two E3’s and was less than impressed, and it doesn’t help that this ‘Arena Shooter’ game genre is the new MOBA, with titles like Gigantic and obviously Overwatch from Blizzard.. Oh, and Paladins from Hi-Rez Studios. I tend to think the game is too far along to scrap, but the competition is definitely starting to heat up.

Might as well head back to Webzen here for a moment. The studio also announced this week that their free to play hack’n’slash MMORPG, ELOA: Elite Lords of Alliance, will be heading to their first North American and European closed beta coming up on October 13th. As with ASTA, anyone with a Webzen account will be able to check out ELOA, and you can even download the client today so that you’re ready to go on October 13th for the approximately week long beta. Also, all progress will be wiped at the end of the beta. Sign up at eloa.webzen.com.

Sad news here, I think .. not really though. Dragon’s Prophet, the immensely un-original Dragon MMORPG from Runewaker Entertainment and Daybreak Games will no longer be active as of November 16th. At least here in North America, as that was Daybreaks geographic reign on the game, so maybe someone else will pick it up, although I’m not sure why. I’ve always joked with colleagues that Dragon’s Prophet was SOE’s (I know it’s Daybreak now), least liked game and was often the most overlooked at the E3’s and PAX’s of the world. Heck, even at the now defunct SOE Live’s the past few years, very little was ever shown off form Dragon’s Prophet. Just a sad, sad game. Sorry. I won’t miss it.   You probably won’t either.

ESTsoft has announced that the Ruin of the Gods update to Cabal 2 will be going live on October 14th. Ruin of the Gods is designed specifically for players of level 40+ and features the Gray Canyon zone. Journeying through Gray Canyon will offer players the opportunity to level from 40-45 through three brand new dungeons complete with quests and gear drops. According to ESTsoft, these dungeons offer the most challenging game content to date.

The dungeons are:
* Silent Snowfield for level 43
* Ancient Academy for level 45
* Tomb of Kain requiring completion of the first two. Check it out next week!

Lastly I’ll quickly mention that Block N Load the what I thought was already a free to play shooter, is officially going free to play. I guess I assumed it was already free to play because it just looked so .. blah, I dunno .. un-interesting. I mean, a shooter with Minecraft like qualities, how many of those are there now? Roblox, Guncraft, Cubeworld, Ace of Spades .. Trove. Oh, and Minecraft. So yeah, Block N Load is now officially free to play and you can get it on their official website or on Steam.

That’s all I’ve got for you today, please leave this video a like, a subscribe, a comment and I hope you all have a great fucking weekend. Cheers!

New H1Z1 Art, Wildstar Free to Play, First Assault and more! | The XP 10.2.2015

What’s up Attackers! Kirk here with your weekly breakdown of the biggest and most noteworthy stories for the week in MMO ending in October 2nd. On today’s episode we’ll be talking about H1Z1, Wildstar, Landmark, First Assault and more! The XP starts now!

So yesterday the folks over at Daybreak Games released a video unlike we’ve ever seen from the company. The September Art Wrap-Up video was a sort of teaser of in-game art assets that gives us a glimpse of what the team is working on, and what we can expect to see in the future from the post-apocalyptic zombie survival MMO game (that’s a mouthful of a genre right?) In the video you’ll see new walking and crawling animations for humans and zombies, people tied up in bags, new animals like a cougar and fireflies, as well as maggots and roaches. Zombie heads in jars and some new damage marks for structures, furniture and foliage are also seen among the footage. The 4 minute video also shows a bunchof new reloading animations and just a bunch of cool stuff that any H1Z1 fan should enjoy. You’re watching some of it as I speak, but check out the full video below.

Armored Warfare, the tank battle MMO game from Obsidian Entertainment and My.com also released a video this week, but this one was just to announce the upcoming open beta test for the game. Up to this point players who have wanted to check out Armored Warfare have had to shell out for an early access pack, but when open beta begins, you’ll be able to download and play for FREE, with all of your progress being saved into launch, now that’s pretty cool. Now of course, early access members will get a head start into open beta, which runs from October first, yesterday, until October 7th, but from October 8th, anyone and everyone will be able to check the game out. More details can be found on Armored Warfare’s open beta via their website.

Earlier this week the Perfect World and Cryptic Studios guys detailed a bunch of the details for the next Neverwinter expansion titled, Underdark. Underdark will feature a new campaign, new Stronghold plot locations and PvP tower, a large-scale battle against the demon prince Demogorgon and of course much much more. The dev team also outlined how they are making repeatable content more interesting by introducing some variability into fights, so that players will need to focus less on ‘muscle memory’ and more on reading and reacting to what’s going on in battle. The team also mentioned that a laundry list of features would be covered in future blog posts, which only makes us have to bookmark their page so we can get the info to you as quickly as possible. We will definitely keep you updated here at Attack Gaming so stay tuned Neverwinter Fans!

First Assault’s first stress test kicked off yesterday, October 1st and runs for two more days to Monday October 4th. Nexon’s free to play, Ghost in the Shell inspired MMO first person shooter will have you playing as an elite augmented soldier with unique skillsets and weaponry on the urban battlefields of the future. A perk for players who play in the stress test can be unlocked by reaching level 2, in which you’ll receive an exclusive weapon skins. Also, any and all players who play this weekend will be entered to win a Logitech Ultimate Hardware Bundle. Sign up NOW via the link below. There’s not much time!

As you might have heard, Wildstar went Free to Play this week, and now one of the biggest MMORPG launches in recent years will definitely have an influx of new players trying the game out as they won’t have to shell out their hard-earned cash for the opportunity to play. A huge launch event went down in Time’s Square New York on Monday and many of you might have seen the festivities on their Twitch stream throughout the night. So yes, Wildstar is NOW free to play so go check it out right after you finish watching this video! The free to play conversion also came with quite a few changes as the ‘Reloaded’ update was the largest to date and brought redesigns in quest flow, character creations, environments, loyalty programs and an overhaul to the levels 1 to 15 experience. A brand new lighting design was added to the game, so the transition definitely became much more drastic for anyone jumping in. Like I said, check out Wildstar today!

That’s all the time I have for you today, please show this video some love with a like and a subscribe and we can’t wait to see you in the next video. Thanks again and we’ll see you on the flip side!

Aftermath Beta, Paladins Gameplay, Archlord 2’s Death and more! | The XP 9.25.2015

What’s up Attackers, Happy last Friday of September, which I realize holds no significance, so I probably shouldn’t even mention it, but did anyways, so yeah. Kirk here bringing you a short update of the biggest MMO news stories of the week. Today we’re talking about Dragomon Hunter, RIFT, Paladins, Archlord 2 and more! The XP starts now!

Yesterday Aeria Games debuted a video that gave a nice overview of what to expect in the upcoming free to play title, Dragomon Hunter. It showed up most of what we had already heard about: questing, hunting, collecting, breeding and leveling, but with much more detail than we’ve previously been privy too. I guess the most interesting news of note is that they also announced the closed beta date, which is coming three weeks from now, on October 15th. Additionally the Founder’s Packs were announced which ranged from a moderate $19.99 up to $299 and 99 cents, I know, that’s a huge, which gives you the ability to craft special weapons and armor, so …

RIFT is inching closer to update 3.4 and Trion Worlds continues to tease what to expect with this week’s zone breakdown of Planetouched Wilds. The new zones show off some really wild architecture, scenery and animals, including this sort of bloated floating alligator-like creature with too many legs and long beard with eyes underneath its mouth and nose, that floats through the air like a fuzzy whale. Yeah .. picture that for a moment. Five new named areas and a few off-the beaten path locations will be added in the update along with a long list of other additions which can be found on RIFTS website if you’re so inclined.

Hi-Rez studios revealed some brand gameplay footage for their upcoming free to play team based shooter Paladins: Champions of the Realm. This marks the first time that many of us got to see any in-game footage, unless you were lucky enough to get to see the game as it was revealed at Gamescom recently. While the video wasn’t dedicated entirely to gameplay, there was enough of it to get an idea of how the game will be played out. Think a mix between Overwatch and Gigantic with a card system that allows players to upgrade and specialize their characters by obtaining cards through matches. Early Access was also mentioned to be starting sometime soon, and you can sign up on its official website.

On the heels of its last update, Archlord 2 has announced that the free to play MMORPG will be shutting down on November 24th. So, it’s last update is the last update ever. A specific reason for shutting down was not given, but based on previous shutdowns, it’s just that the game is not worth their effort any longer. Of course, Webzen gave some amazing, I think, stats that said over 300,000 players have logged onto the game for a combined total of over 5 million hours, but without comparing that to other games, it’s probably not very much. Players can, although I’m not sure why, take advantage to 100% boosts in experience, gold, item drops and fame gains until the shut-down in November.

The open beta test for Aftermath, an upcoming open-world zombie survival MMO backed by George C. Romero began today. The game is not entirely new as you will remember the game by it’s previous name, The War Z, or Infection: Survival Stories, but this time under a new developer, Free Reign Entertainment. The game is very similar to an H1Z1 or a RUST or DayZ in that you’ll be exploring a world filled with zombies where the other players are much more dangerous than the zombies and you’ll need to utilize a variety of skills to aid in your survival while trying to figure out who is your friend or foe and bla bla bla. Players of these games know what they are looking for, so if you want to check out Aftermath, do it on Steam starting today!

That’s all I have for you today, please be sure to like and subscribe and stay tuned for more videos from us here at Attack Gaming. Thanks for watching and have a great weekend!

Dead Island: Epidemic Shutting Down, Neverwinter, DarkScape and more! | The XP 9.18.2015

What’s up Attackers, Kirk here and welcome to the September 18th edition of The XP. On today’s show we’re going to cover Dead Island Epidemic Closing Down, Everquest Expansions announced, Neverwinter, WIldstar and a new Runescape? That and more on today’s episode!

Earlier this week Deep Silver announced that they are ceasing further development on their Dead Island Zombie MOBA, or ZOMBA, Dead Island: Epidemic. The team stated that they have been evaluating feedback and criticism from players over the past few months and their final conclusion is apparently, it’s not working. The servers will be shut down for good on October 15th, with very large discounts on characters and boosts until then. No word on whether or not they will be refunding players for currency spent like many games have before them, but from the announcement’s wording, it seems not.

Carbine Studios continues to release the many upcoming changes to Wildstar in anticipation of its free to play conversion that will take place later this month. This week the new crafting system was revealed which brings changes to the four tradeskills that use their Circuit Board Crafting technologies, which allow you to craft items with stats. The goal with changing tradeskills in the free to play update is to smartly integrate new stat changes to keep it deep and rewarding, but not as complicated, which was a complaint that many had with the existing system. I don’t have 20 minutes to go over all the changes, so check out Wildstars website if you want the details!

Neverwinter’s Stronghold Update which brings the much anticipated guild vs. guild combat has finally gone live this week, and it’s major selling point, giving war-oriented guilds the opportunity to wreak havock on other guilds halls for honor, glory and loot, is now ready for players to enjoy. The guild battles which feature 20v20 skirmishes that combine two stronghold maps into one, (best way to describe it as MOBA-like with three lanes) will let guild members earn upgrades to guild halls and improve offensive and defensive capabilities to their members for winning. The update went live on September 15th, so what are you waiting for?

Daybreak Games announced that both EverQuest and EverQuest II would be seeing brand new expansions that will be fully revealed during a live-stream event on October 1st on Twitch. What we know at this point is that both titles will be seeing full expansions which we assume will mean new raids, new quests, new and updated zones and more. Come October first we’ll have much more info and we’ll keep you updated then!

Lastly I wanted to bring up DarkScape which is what, RuneScape but darker? No? Maybe? Let’s see. Umm .. DarkScape is an experimental sandbox MMO where open-world PvP and ruthless trade wars are the name of the day. Get it now? DarkScape is a brand new game, but not really, cause you need RuneScape to play it, it’s more of a game within in a game. Easiest way for me to describe it is RuneScape with PvP everywhere in Legacy Mode. There are three regions that are separated into different risk levels which have different loot drops and such. If you know more about it, or have played it, comment below and let us know what you think!

That’s all I’ve got for you today, thanks for watching, be sure to subscribe, have a great weekend and we’ll see you in the next video. Bye!
