Blizzard Not Considering WoW Free-To-Play

World of Warcraft has been on a slow decline for some time and after talks earlier this month revealed a 100,000 drop in subscribers, many were expecting a free-to-play announcement at this years Blizzcon. September also saw some disappointing information for the king of the MMORPG as Blizzard confirmed a drop of $111,000,000 in revenue.

So, was the Anaheim Convention Center the place to make a free-to-play announcement for World of Warcraft? Well, not this year. During a Q&A session with fans J. Allen Brack discussed Blizzard’s plans, or rather lack of, surrounding the free-to-play transition:

“It?s
not something we?re currently considering.” Brack told attendees at the
panel, “We would have to rework the game pretty significantly in order
to make it free-to-play.”

Despite numerous attempts to entice new players with free trials, referral bonuses and free items, World of Warcraft is still struggling however it’s still the most popular pay-to-play MMORPG around today, so it’s not all that bad.
