Digital Extremes recently announced that the award-winning, critically acclaimed free-to-play MMOTPS game, Warframe, will be joining Microsoft’s ID@Xbox program sometime in 2014. The ID@Xbox program allows independent developers to self-publish their games on Microsoft’s next-generation platform, although these titles will still be behind Xbox Gold’s subscription payment wall, despite Warframe being available on the PC & PlayStation 4 at no extra cost.
“Bringing
Warframe to Xbox One is a no-brainer,” said Steve Sinclair, creative
director at Digital Extremes. “Our players have been asking for
Warframe since the debut of the console and with the ID@Xbox Program,
now we can make it happen. Having the freedom to develop and publish
Warframe on our own terms is the true definition of independence to us.
Warframe is a passion project for our team and building it alongside
our players is a reality now with digital distribution.”
The co-operative free-to-play shooter will be supported by a number of features available through Xbox One. One of these features is Game DVR, giving players the opportunity to take advantage of the Xbox One’s power through the capturing and sharing of their greatest Warframe moments. Warframe will release on the Xbox One later this year. Check out the new E3 trailer below:
