The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) today revealed the nominations for this years British Academy Games Awards with Hearthstone leading the charge for the MMO space. Over 50 games have been nominated across 17 categories, displaying the very best the gaming world has had to offer over the last 12 months, highlighting the impressive level of creativity and design that made some of 2014’s biggest titles flourish.
Hearthstone stands out as the most dominant MMO at this years British Academy Games Awards, as the only MMO to be nominated for a category outside the Persistent World award. Hearthstone and the developers at Blizzard have been shortlisted as nominations in Game design, Mobile & Handheld and Multiplayer categories. No other MMO game is present.
There is however a Persistent Game award that sees the likes of Destiny, EVE Online, League of Legends, World of Warcraft and RuneScape.
This year will see the British Academy Games Awards hosted by actor Rufus Hound for the first time and will take place at the Tobacco Dock in London on Thursday, February 12th. The ceremony will be streamed live on Twitch.tv and the official BAFTA website.
