While Square Enix continue to enjoy the success of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, they’re not yet ready to give up on fans of the award-winning Final Fantasy XI. The original Final Fantasy MMO recently celebrated its eleventh anniversary and to commemorate the event the developers have announced a limited-time Welcome Back campaign. These two new campaigns will give adventurers the opportunity to return to the vast world of Vana’diel to experience its newer content and game improvements.
The first of the two campaigns, the Vana’diel experience, is already underway and offers previous subscribers the opportunity to return to the game without having to purchase a subscription. As long as players have an inactive PlayOnline account that has been transferred to the newer Square Enix system, they will be eligible. This part of the event will give players completely free access to FFXI until December 23rd.
The second campaign will see Square Enix distribute the Final Fantasy XI: Ultimate Collection Seekers Edition for free until Monday, December 23rd. This edition includes all expansions including the most recent update, Seekers of Adoulin.
