As of last weekend, from October 26th until October 28th, there was a LAN tournament that was being held at the University of Windsor in Windsor, Ontario. Racquel, from MMO ATK, had a chance to go there (since it was in her city) and experience all of the great events that were taking place and met a lot of great people as a result as well. This was the second time that the school has hosted such an event like this. There were up to 175 people that had attended. The hosts of the event are hoping to join teams with the St. Clair College that is also within the city of Windsor and use their venue to hold even more people for the event for this upcoming March 2013.

The event began at 5pm with a Quake Live tournament with a total of 8 people competing in it. The tournament was a Double Elimination bracket having Duels as the Match Style. This was followed shortly by the Super Smash Brothers Melee tournament which was a huge hit for everyone ? both spectators and participants alike.

The Super Smash Brothers Melee Tournament was a huge hit on the first day of the entire event. There were over 45 people who signed up for the Super Smash Brothers Melee tournament and everyone played well. The prizes that were to be won were a gaming headset or a gaming mouse that were given to the first and second winners of the tournament. The final match of the entire tournament was intense and very well played by both players. It was a best of five matches and ended with the winner beating three matches in a row.
Here were the final two contestants of the Super Mario Brothers Melee tournament battling it out for first place. Again, it was a very extreme match and both players did well.
Here is after the tournament and the final match was won. The winner of the entire tournament is on the right with the gaming headset, and the second place winner is on the left with the gaming mouse.
[heading]Day Two: October 27th, 2012 [/heading]The second day of the tournament was where things really hit it off. In the morning, there was a Battlefield 3 tournament going on from 9:00am until Noon and then at 1:00pm, the Halo: Reach tournament started, having a total of 17 players competing, followed by the League of Legends tournament which was the biggest success out of everything for the entire weekend.
Racquel participated, unofficially, in some games of Halo: Reach during the League of Legends tournament to pass some time with some Firefight: Gruntocalypse and Infection gameplay and certainly kicked some butt the best she could.
The final matches of the League of Legends tournament didn?t start until later on in the evening, past midnight, but Racquel was a trooper and stayed until 3:00am, and the matches were still going on from 6pm. It was a 5v5 tournament in Summoner?s Rift with a bracket style of Double Elimination with a lot of team entries (17 teams entered, 88 players) and the winners of the entire League of Legends tournament won a Championship skin and some various other prizes as well.

While, again, waiting for the League of Legends matches to near to the finals, Racquel had played some unofficial Super Smash Brothers Melee, and failed miserably with her lack of skills, having not played it for a good six years.

Having been around midnight, the League of Legends tournament was finally in its finals and was being streamed on Twitch.tv through one of the host?s channels, Malfusx, along with the individual being the Shoutcaster of the matches, which was a very cool experience to witness.

Overall, the entire weekend was a hit and was very enjoyable, I am sure, by all. Racquel did not make it to the last day of the event because of staying up too late the previous night watching the League of Legends tournament. There were 12 players in total for the StarCraft II tournament that was going on, on the 28th of October at 9:00am. She looks forward to going to the next one in March if they decide to go ahead with the event and is sure that it will be an even bigger success than this one was.
