Bohemia Interactive have taken on the role of Father Christmas this year as they deliver the perfect Christmas presents for millions, early access to DayZ on Steam. Fans of the original Arma II mod can now purchase immediate access to the alpha client through Steam for ?19.99/$30.00. The new release comes with a painfully obvious warning to players, a warning that appears to have missed much of the community:
WARNING: THIS GAME IS EARLY ACCESS ALPHA. PLEASE DO NOT PURCHASE IT UNLESS YOU WANT TO ACTIVELY SUPPORT DEVELOPMENT OF THE GAME AND ARE PREPARED TO HANDLE WITH SERIOUS ISSUES AND POSSIBLE INTERRUPTIONS OF GAME FUNCTIONING.
Despite this warning hundreds have flooded the Steam Community Hub and DayZ official forums with complaints regarding the lack of content and features within the game. Currently players are able to explore the revamped Chernarus, experiment with the new crafting system and horde dozens of new items and vanity gear.
The Steam page also states that other features, such as usable vehicles and player structures, will be implemented over the course of a year; a rather lengthy period for players to wait for features they were already expecting. For more information you can check the official entry on Steam.
