During last years DayZ developer conference at the EuroGamer Expo creator Dean “Rocket” Hall said it would “definitely release before Christmas” but due to unforeseen issues the game has met many delays with yet another revealed in the latest devblog video.
The new devblog video offers fans 20 minutes of footage including an in-depth look at a variety of game play mechanics as well as some interviews and commentary from Rocket himself. He explains many of the reasons behind the latest delay with the primary reason being the development of new loading mechanics that will offer far better stability and smoother loading times. The current mechanics with the Arma II version of DayZ sees the client load the entire game map each time, including the actions of players and the spawned items. The new system will only load necessary features near a players current location, a typical approach when developing large-scale titles.
