I’m as surprised as you are. 3 Turn Productions today announced the the Jane Austen themed social MMO game Ever, Jane has successfully reached its Kickstarter funding goal of $100,000. The new take on the hugely successful works of Jane Austen debuted on Kickstarter at the beginning of last month and thanks to the dedicated fans of her writings and the exposure from MMO sites 3 Turn Productions have attracted almost $10,000 past their initial funding goal.
Sadly this does mean that the game did not manage to attract enough funding to reach any of its stretch goals but the fact a social MMO attracted even $100,000 is a feat in itself. Project Creator Judy Tyrer sums up the end-goal of Ever, Jane in a very simple quote:
In the virtual world of Jane Austen, it is not about kill or be killed,
but invite and be invited with gossip our weapon of choice.
Ever, Jane is the perfect example of the power given to the gaming community through the use of Kickstarter; a game that could well have disappeared into oblivion if announced a few years ago. To follow the post-Kickstarter development of Ever, Jane you can check out the official website.
