A representative from Electronic Arts has confirmed that SimCity will also be available digitally on other platforms as well as Origin. For many, this will be some welcome news as there appears to be a common consensus against using EA?s fairly young digital service unless absolutely required to. Other digital providers selling the game have not yet been confirmed.
Additionally, with the new emphasis on social interaction and a multiplayer experience that the developers of SimCity have implemented, lead designer of the game Stone Librande has confirmed that even if players want to enjoy the game as a single player, they will still need to connect to the internet. This comes as no surprise as an always on internet connection will allow new features such as a global economy to flourish.
SimCity is slated for a release sometime in 2013, after being recently unveiled at the Game Developers Conference earlier this year.
