Bungee’s upcoming MOM-esque first-person shooter, Destiny, has suffered a potentially deadly blow today following the departure of the design director Joseph Staten. The 15-year veteran of the award winning development studio offered very little insight into the reasons for his departure offering the following vague message:
“I’m leaving to tackle new creative challenges. While
this may come as a surprise, fear not. It’s been my pleasure building Destiny these past four years, and after the big reveal this summer, our hugely talented team is on track for greatness.”
Destiny continues to build hype ahead of its PlayStation 4 and Xbox One release and although the developers have several critically acclaimed titles under their belt, it’s quite concerning to see such a vital staff member leaving so abruptly.
Gamasutra reached out to Activision but the publishers refused to provide any additional information outside of Staten’s initial statement.
