This weekend Grinding Gear Games will be hosting another one of their new betas. From September 14th to 16th, players will be able to experience pieces of the dark action-RPG: Path of Exile.
When I saw screenshots of this game I immediately thought Diablo 2. In fact, the menu systems could arguably be a direct rip off. Rip offs are good when it comes to video games nowadays though. People are always looking to experience their favorite things in more ways. Like Diablo 2, Path of Exile has a complicated skill tree (picture below) and endless looting opportunities for players to experience.
The game will be free-to-play upon its release so the beta is sure to present an accurate account for what players can expect. Being fit for both loners and internet socialites, Path of Exile might be a surprising find for those looking for a good action-RPG. With Torchlight 2 being released in upcoming weeks this could be a nice intro for those preparing to join their first action-RPG. At the very least it should keep avid gamers occupied until the more hyped release.
Any video game fan partial to hack and slash gameplay and treasure hunting should give the game a look this weekend. If Path of Exile achieves even half of what similar games like Diablo 2 and Titan Quest did, this certainly won?t be the last you hear of it.
