Playstation 4: Sony is ?confident? of release before next Xbox console

Sony has claimed that the company wants to release the Playstation 4 before the next Xbox and?that they are ?confident? in being able to reach this goal. VG247 had heard that the specs of the?console were set two years ago and that the console will be released before the next Xbox, which?has rumored to be launching in Christmas 2013.

“Sony are completely in the belief that they have the jump on Microsoft this time,” one source told?VG247.

?Top line publishers already know about it,? our source said. ?Developers working with publishers?? like Ubisoft, for example ? already know what?s going on. They?re already working on it.?

The Playstation 4 has been rumoured that it will use DirectX as opposed to the branded Sony API.

It was reported last week, by VG247 that PlayStation 4 will not be based on PS3?s Cell processor in?any way, and will instead use standard AMD hardware.

Its hardware specs will consist of an AMD x64 CPU and AMD Southern Islands GPU, with the ability?to show games at a resolution of 4096?2160. It?ll also be able to display 3D games at 1080p. The?PS3 is only able to do it at 720p.

In addition, VG247 has been told that features of Vita?s launch hardware were changed to ensure?that PS4 and Vita will be able to connect in a similar style to Nintendo?s Wii U and its controller ??due for release this year ? with Vita?s being used to control PS4 games with both twin sticks and?touch.
