Some of you may recall an article I wrote at the start of the month detailing the sketchy future of the Kingdoms of Amalur MMO, Project Copernicus. The state of Rhode Island announced that the MMORPG from 38 Studios would be going under the hammer with the hopes of recovering at least some of the $90 million investment given before the close of Curt Schilling’s studio.
Initial bidders are now being vetted before the game will be sold to the highest bidder around the 15th of November. The winning bid will receive the Kingdoms of Amalur IP, the lore, characters and environments in the game, rights to the PC strategy title Rise of Nations and the Xbox Live Arcade title Catan.
Industry analyst Michael Pachter offered his opinion the matter shedding doubts on the value of the game due to the tens of millions it would cost to finish.
