Destiny Stats Silence Critics

Despite attracting a huge mass of hype and anticipation Bungie’s Destiny struck a sour note with many gaming critics but today Bungie had their chance to silence negative critique with some pretty impressive figures. Although the game launched to rather surprisingly polarized review scores, mostly due to its unexpected similarities with the traditional MMO grind, millions of console players have shown their passion for Bungie’s latest science-fiction epic.

According to a new post published on the official Destiny news feed, over 3.2 million unique players experience the game on a daily basis. On average each player enjoys the content on offer for a minimum of 3 hours per day with the average player choosing to play Destiny more than 20 times since launch.

Over the past three weeks, we’ve had more players online in Destiny than
we did during the same span for Halo 3 and Halo: Reach, combined.

To put those impressive stats into perspective – Destiny’s 3.2 million daily players would be enough to beat Steam’s most popular game right now, 3 times over.

We thank you for playing. And, we thank you for the passion and
enthusiasm that has made the Destiny community so strong already. It’s
been amazing to watch your Guardians become legends. Your reactions and
your opinions have helped us to make Destiny better over this past
month.

With new challenges arriving almost every week, 2 expansions on the horizon and increasingly popular PvP, it seems Destiny will be taking up the headlines for some time yet.
