GamesCampus, one of the leading free-to-play MMO publishers, have just released a new trailer for their upcoming turn-based strategy game, Ecol Tactics Online.
The new trailer highlights the Mercenary system, a focal feature in the turn-based title. Players are able to recruit new Mercenaries via a lottery type system that rewards gambling and guts. There are 3 boards of mercs available; General Board, Advanced Board and Special Board, with each board requiring increased currency to use. The lesser boards reward weaker Mercenaries but can be used with gold collected in-game; while the Special Board requires certain tickets that can be purchased in the item mall or occasionally as a quest reward.
The gambling aspect comes into play once a player uses a board for the first time. There are 6 possible Mercenaries on each board but once a player takes a chance at a random card, that board remains in play until a Mercenary is chosen. Do you risk extra gold and premium items pushing for that extra powerful Mercenary? Or would you stick with a slightly above average merc and save your currency?
