The hype surrounding EverQuest Next was already huge before SOE Live but during the event, it went nuclear. During a series of live SOE panels the developers revealed some tidbits of information for the available classes and races in the next installment of the EverQuest franchise.
The panel reported that the game will support a variety of fantasy-themed races with a total of 6 being available to play at launch. The currently confirmed races are as follows; Humans, Dwarves, Dark Elves, Ogres, Kerran and Elves.
Although the race system seems typical of the MMO genre it was the class announcement that really struck a chord with the crowd. Ignoring the typical singular class approach the MMORPG genre has become so familiar with, Sony Online Entertainment instead opted to provide players with a multi-class supporting system. Although players can select a base class during character creation, such as Rogue, Warrior, Tempest and Wizard, they’re not restricting to following that particular class exclusively.
Instead players will be able to create their own class using a combination of skills and abilities from the classes available. There will be over 40 classes on offer at launch, with each providing players with an interesting arsenal of skills and abilities.
This is just some of the exciting EverQuest Next news to escape SOE Live, and we’re sure there’s more to come. For more information on features and mechanics you can visit the official website. Also, don’t forget to sign up for the EverQuest Next closed beta.
