Square Enix today announced the official release date for the PlayStation 4 version of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. The PlayStation 4 beta event has already been announced, beginning on February 22nd, and the official release has been dated for April 14th, 2014.
PlayStation 4 players will have the option of both the Standard and Collector’s Edition with both being available to pre-order from today, January 27th. Pre-orders for both editions will come with two in-game items (Cait Sith Doll & Mog Cap) as well as an Early Access pass beginning on April 11th.
Current Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn users that purchased the Collector’s Edition or upgraded via the digital option will automatically receive two additional items (Fat Chocobo Mount & Wind-up Moogle minion) both of which will be making their first appearance in the PS4 version. As previously promised all current PlayStation 3 players will be able to upgrade to the PlayStation 4 version free of charge beginning April 11th. However it’s worth nothing that doing so will in effect cancel the PlayStation 3 version, so players will not be able to play on both systems without an additional purchase.
