Hi-Rez Studios and Microsoft today announced the upcoming conclusion to Season 2 of the free-to-play, award-winning MOBA, SMITE, with the upcoming Smite Xbox One Invitational – truly bringing the competitive nature of eSports gaming to the console market. From January 7th through to January 10th the best teams from North America, Europe, Brazil, Latin America, China and Oceania will compete at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta for the PC World Championship while the greatest of console teams will compete in the SMITE Xbox One Invitational.

The Smite PC World Championship prize pool will be capped at $1 million as the developers hope to distribute the winners to a greater share of the players at events throughout the season. They plan to award over $2 million in crowd-sourced prizes across this season, with various incentives such as unique skins and unlocks in the game itself.
The SMITE Xbox One Invitational will see 4 of Xbox One’s top SMITE scene compete for a total prize pool of $150,000.
