Gamescom is underway and the biggest names in gaming are looking to impress with an exciting array of titles on the show floor. One of which is ArenaNet’s critically acclaimed online MMORPG game Guild Wars 2. Today ArenaNet announced that it will be launching a competitive tournament for Guild Wars 2 players with the World Tournament Series in North America, China and Europe with a huge $150,000 prize pool up for grabs.
The developers also revealed that the next Feature Pack for Guild Wars 2 will focus on the in-game PvP including new features, class balancing and other elements to streamline the PvP process.
ArenaNet’s World Tournament Series represents the first worldwide
event-based competition for the game. The first championship is set for
late fall of 2014 in Beijing. Competitors will be chosen from top
qualifying players in the upcoming Tournament of Glory launching on
August 20. More information on the World Tournament Series structure and
the Beijing event will be released in the coming weeks.
Outside of the traditional battle arenas fans of WvW and PvP will be treated to “serious upgrades” with the release of the next Feature Pack in September 2014 – which will launch for all players free on chage on September 9th.
