In South Western Ontario, something big in gaming is happening this weekend. The University of Windsor students are hosting the biggest video game LAN party and tournament to ever happen in the region. The event is called LAN of the Dead and it will take place this weekend on October 26th, 2012 until October 28th, 2012 on the University campus. There will be hundreds of gamer enthusiasts that will be participating in the various tournaments and just plain social gaming over the weekend. Players even have the option to spend the entire weekend gaming, which would attribute up to 50 hours of game play. Sound fun?
The weekend includes tournaments with games like:
- Minecraft Contest
- Quake Live
- Super Smash Bros. Melee
- Battlefield 3
- Halo: Reach
- League of Legends
- StarCraft II
The event is catering to the new generation of gamers within South Western Ontario and the ever-growing community of eSports. With the numbers that Riot Games received from the League of Legends Championship, that can certainly confirm this. Gamers no longer have to sit at home and play by themselves, they can go to a LAN party or be a part of an eSports team and compete in various tournaments either just for fun or for a prize pool.
