It’s tough love being a Mac owner in the MMO world. Fortunately, Turbine has decided to appease the Apple audience by revealing today that they have released a Mac beta client for the Lord of the Rings Online. The popular free-to-play MMO, based on the books by J.R.R. Tolkein, and each of its subsequent expansions have received rave reviews from critics and players alike since its release in 2007.
The most recent expansion, Riders of Rohan, was released in October of this year. Expanding the market to include the Mac gamers ensures that the game and its newest update reache the widest audience possible.
In regards to the Mac beta, Kate Paiz, Executive Producer of LOTRO stated:
We are really excited to open up the world of Middle-earth to Mac. We?ve just launched our biggest expansion yet and we?re happy to welcome gamers to play the game natively on Mac OS X for the first time ever.
