Kickstarter has provided gamers with dozens of unique projects in 2012 and that trend continues with the recent announcement of a new sandbox MMORPG, Oceania. Developed using the UNIGINE Engine; Oceania’s looking like a very promising open-world experience.
One of the features most mentioned by the developers is the living world that will surround players. Every player will be able to introduce new items into the game; from objects and weapons to plants and artifacts, promising a continually evolving experience with new content waiting round every corner. As well as the opportunity of inventing and creating news items players will also be able to control how the items are implemented into the game world. They can be rewarded as a trophy for difficult tasks, hidden in the game world or sold at player owned shops. Another unique twist; the items can also be sold for real money, providing the unique opportunity to make real cash playing an open-world game.
Oceania boasts a number of other exciting features include player owned territories, open-world PvP and in-depth crafting. Accompanying the Kickstarter launch of Oceania is a teaser video showcasing some of the in-game environments. The video doesn’t give any information in regards to features or mechanics, but it does demonstrate the very impressive world design and graphics.
