One Piece: Pirate Warriors Makes Its Way To The US!

When this game was announced I tried to avoid it. Whenever a cool game revolving around an anime or manga I enjoy, it would always be Japan exclusive. However, no matter how much I avoided this game, it would keep on popping up. It was like One Piece wanted to raise my hopes and crush them. Eventually I submitted to my fan-boy desires only to be rewarded instead of thrown into depression. There, announced by the awesome development team Tecmo Koei (Dynasty Warriors series), One Piece: Pirate Warriors will be available for digital download on September 25 via PlayStation Network. When I heard of this news I bet the Japanese Development team could hear my fan-boy-yell-of-approval all the way from my apartment.

Well to those who are in the dark to what this game holds, let me shed some light. One Piece: Pirate Warriors is a beat-em-up style action game (similar to the Dynasty Warriors games) that follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy and his pirate crew. It starts off in the very beginning of the East Blue Saga and ends at the New World Saga.

One Piece: Pirate Warriors holds a fun roster of notable characters to play, such as:
Monkey D. Luffy (Pre-Timeskip) (Post-Timeskip)
Roronoa Zoro (Pre-Timeskip) (Post-Timeskip)
Usopp (Pre-Timeskip)
Sanji (Pre-Timeskip) (Post-Timeskip)
Nami (Pre-Timeskip)
Tony Tony Chopper (Pre-Timeskip)
Nico Robin (Pre-Timeskip)
Franky (Pre-Timeskip)
Brook (Pre-Timeskip)
Portgas D. Ace
Edward Newgate
Boa Hancock (Pre-Timeskip)
Jinbe (Pre-Timeskip)

When you thought this was all to the game…guess again! An additional feature to this game that I didn’t suspect, Co-Op! That is correct, not only can you enjoy crazy brawls as your favorite One Piece character, but you can also have a friend enjoying the experience with you. Just imagine playing as Luffy smashing up your enemies into the air and then your homie appears as Ace, burning them all up into crisps!

Just to keep the game fresh and progressive, the more you play a specific character the more experience you obtain. This will later lead to unlocking bigger combos and super moves as scene in the One Piece anime and manga.

I do have to admit, I was not particularly excited to know I had to buy a PS3 for this game, but it was inevitable if I wanted to receive this treasure. To all my fellow fan-boys and gamers, I say get ready for One Piece: Pirate Warriors! YoHo!
