Eric Heimburg and the team over at Elder Game began celebrations today as the upcoming 3D fantasy MMORPG game, Project Gorgon, completely smashed its initial Kickstarter funding goal and is now well on the road to final release. When the team first launched the Kickstarter campaign they were hoping to raise $20,000 to improve current mechanics, introduce new features and purchase additional art assets to improve the aesthetics of the game. One month after the launch of the Kickstarter campaign the developers today announced that 1318 backers pledged their support to the tone of over $74,000.

One of the many elements attributed to the Kickstarter’s success is the availability of an entirely free client that fans were invited to download. Allowing them to sample the current build of the game while enjoying the vision and goals the developers were on the way to achieving.
