It?s only been four months since Turbine?s last expansion for Lord of the Rings Online, and they?re already on the ball with brand new stuff for fans of the adventure MMO. LOTRO is already one of the most popular free MMORPGs on the market, mostly because of Turbine?s commitment to quality and the ridiculous amount of content they?ve added to the game over the last few years.
This newest expansion, titled Riders of Rohan, brings a number of significant changes to the game. The most notable, of course, is the addition of mounted combat. Players will now be able to enter battle from their mounts, and new foes have been added to the game that will specifically have to be dealt with via mounted combat. The update also promised a raise in the level cap to 85, as well as new zones to explore and new quests to complete.
Lord of the Rings Online has been live since 2007 but adopted a free-to-play subscription model in 2010. Since then, the game has seen explosive growth, with a player base rumored to land somewhere in the low millions.
Look for Riders of Rohan sometime this year ? we?ll keep you updated as details roll out.
