Jagex Games Studios, developers of the award-winning free-to-play browser MMO RuneScape, are pleased to announce the results of the inaugural Old School RuneScape Tournament that took place on the 15th and 16th of August. Eight teams competed in a furious 2 day event for their chance at a share of a huge $10,000 prize pool. The event was originally scheduled to take place at the start of the month but a “significant cyber attack” prevented the event from being livestreamed and was thus suspended until a later date.
The next attempt was more successful as the RuneScape team streamed the event to over 240,000 viewers with peak concurrent numbers over 13,000 viewers. This years livestream event was more than double the viewing figures that we saw previously, making it the most successful stream to date. The Abusement Park team walked away with the top prize of $5,000 while Fatality scooped up the runners-up prize of $3,000 and Flippergang took the final cash placement prize of $2,000.
