Gamescom has been a little quiet on the MMO front this year but there’s at least a little to get excited about as Gaijin Entertainment confirm the free-to-play MMO, War Thunder, as a PlayStation 4 title. The World War II themed MMO is all set to rival Wargaming’s World of Warplanes effort as it expands on the combat scenarios, featuring both aerial and terrain based combat.
The press release stated that over 300 historically accurate World War II themed vehicles will be included at launch, with hundreds more expected following the games official launch. Gaijin also stated that updates will be simultaneous with the PC version, a feature that very few developers are brave enough to boast.
Players will be able to enjoy the co-op and multiplayer battles following a simple download from the PlayStation Store. The developers also stated that PlayStation Plus members will be treated to some “bonus content”.
If you don’t want to hang around for the PlayStation 4 release you can join the PC & MAC open beta here.
