Rockstar Games today announced the next batch of content heading to the struggling Grand Theft Auto Online with the introduction of the highly anticipated creation tools and a new game mode. The update, which could go live as early as today, will give players the opportunity to script and create their own race and deathmatch challenges using a robust selection of in-game creation tools. Challenges can then be uploaded to the Rockstar service to open it to the public. The developers also stated that the very best and highest rated player created missions will be adding to the official list of Rockstar Verified Jobs.
Accompanying the tools is the new Capture game mode. Injecting the traditional CTF mode with a heavy dose of GTA mayhem will give players the chance to engage in squad combat with up to 4 teams attempting to defend, attack or steal objects at certain locations.
The press release did mention the heists very briefly but not in the way many were hoping for:
GTA Online Heists.
We know many of you in the GTA Online community are super excited for
the debut of co-operative
Heists. Heists are currently in development and we are working very
hard to get them as polished and as fun as they can be. Stay tuned for
much more detail in the New Year.
The developers also plan to introduce new story content to Grand Theft Auto V as Trevor, Michael and Franklin continue their exploits in Southern San Andreas.
