Perfect World Entertainment today announced via their digital games platform ArcGames that the long-running free-to-play MMO, Ether Saga Odyssey, will sadly be closing its doors after 6 years of service. The developers today informed players that the game will be closing and ceasing all services come January 4th, 2016. All cash shop bought items and currency, from June 1st 2015, to October 6th, will be refunded in full and returned to players’ accounts.
Although the team didn’t give any exact reasoning behind the closure Ether Saga Odyssey has been without new content for some time with the large major update, the Demonology expansions, launching in November of 2014. Fans will surely be upset to hear the news but it’s not all doom and gloom as many private servers will continue to function and support the community after the official servers are closed.

It is with great sadness that we announce that ESO will be shutting its doors on January 4th, 2016. The developers are no longer supporting ESO, and we are unable to deliver a quality experience to you, our players, so we have made the difficult decision to shut the game down.
Thank you for your interest and loyalty to ESO over the many years. We appreciate your understanding. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns and we will answer them to the best of our abilities.[/quote]
