The release of Warlords of Draenor is less than a month away – and it promises to be the biggest World of Warcraft expansion yet. Not only will it completely revamp how the game looks, it’ll mark the debut of player housing, along with some pretty significant changes to both PvP and PvE. We’ve gotten just a tiny taste of the changes with the launch of patch 6.0.2, but there’s a whole hell of a lot more on the way.
Are you prepared?
In today’s piece, I’m going to go over a few things every World of Warcraft player needs to do before Warlords goes live.
[heading]Make Sure Your Character Is Fully Decked Out[/heading]
How’s your gear looking? Are you decked out in the best drops raiding can earn? What about your professions – have you maxed all of them out? Gold-wise, how are you doing? Are you swimming in profits, or perpetually strapped for cash?
Warlords of Draenor’s going to bring a lot of new challenges with it – and a ton of expenses, to boot. If you’re really serious about diving into the new expansion, you’d best be sure your character’s up to the task. Make sure your professions are all maxed out, you’ve got some decent gear, and you’ve a nice stockpile of gold saved up. Oh, and if you haven’t already hit 90, get your ass in gear. You don’t have a whole lot of time left.
[heading]Experience Your First Clash With The Iron Horde[/heading]
The release of Patch 6.0.2 earlier this month kicked off a new world event – an invasion in The Blasted Lands. There, the Iron Horde has poured through the Dark Portal to kick off a devastating invasion, taking down both Okril’lon and Nethergarde Keep. This world event naturally isn’t going to last forever – it’s a safe bet that once Warlords officially releases, the Iron Horde will have either been ousted or established a permanent foothold for itself.
[heading]Play Through The New Upper Blackrock Spire[/heading]
Along with the Iron Horde event, Blizzard has revamped Upper Blackrock Spire. They’ve emphasized that this special dungeon is a limited-time affair, so if you want to delve into it, you’d best start right away. Apparently it sets the stage for the whole expansion.
[heading]Challenge Yourself[/heading]
With the launch of Warlords, Mists of Pandaria’s Challenge Modes are gonna be gone, replaced by level 100 Challenge Dungeons. What that means is that this is your last chance to earn the rewards offered by these instances. This means that all the awesome armor sets and special mounts are effectively going to become impossible to attain – if you want any of them, you’d best go for ’em now.
[heading]Take Down Garrosh Hellscream[/heading]
Seriously, the guy’s a dick. Oh, and once Warlords launches, the Kor’kron Juggernaut Mount (which is currently a guaranteed drop) will have its drop rate reduced to rare (roughly a 0.1% chance). So, uh…best get that mount before it’s too late.
