While GAME Australia had remained quiet on the matter of their future, Tweets by the company told Australian followers nothing more than that ?GAME Aus works quite different to GAME UK?. However, this hasn?t stopped the collapse of the UK division of the retailer effecting Australian stores.
In a recent interview with the Australian Financial Review, managing director in Australia Paul Yardley said that GAME would be working with administrators PriceWaterhouseCoopers, as well as the local management team of the retailer as they will have the final decision in picking who may eventually buy the struggling chain. Despite this rosier outlook, Yardley can?t confirm that Australian stores won?t be shutting down with employees facing possible job loss.
Outside of this, a representative for PriceWaterhouseCoopers has stated that international divisions in France, Czech Republic, Spain, Portugal and Australia are still operational as per usual.
