PlanetSide 2 – 2 New Videos & Developer Road Map Released

Sony Online Entertainment have just announced the full contents of the latest patch for their AAA MMOFPS, PlanetSide 2. The update, Game Update 04, includes a wealth of new content and adds new features to various areas of the game, from certifications to vehicle upgrades.

The majority of the additions in Game Update 04 come directly from player submissions on the official PlanetSide 2 forums. Many fixes have addressed concerns of active players while the new content is setting up to fill one of the best patches in PlanetSide 2’s short history.

VR Training Area
The new training area will give players the opportunity to test everything before they buy it. Every weapon, vehicle and attachment will be available to give soldiers a taste of what’s available.

Get ready to rumble!
Personally my favorite aspect of the update, and a feature I’ve been hoping for since launch. The Flash has received an upgrade that offers a rear-mounted passenger seat. Two new upgrades have also been added including the S12 Renegade Shotgun and new stealth capabilities.

Passive Cert Gain
Players will now earn certifications as long as they’re logged in and active. Removing the previous restriction that required players to maintain a combat state.

Accompanying this latest patch is 2 new videos. The first video sees Margaret “Luperza” Krohn take players on a tour of the new updates as well as what else we can look forward to in March. She also hints at some new empire exclusive rocket launchers and some additional Marketplace.

The second video is a sequel to the highly popular War Correspondent series. Robert Stoneman follows one of the best Terran Republic outfits through the trenches of war covering Amerish.
