Continuing the 20-year celebrations surrounding the Pokemon franchise this year is Niantic’s first ever event for the global phenomenon that is, Pokemon Go. Despite dropping in popularity due to the removal of the tracking system and lack of content-worthy updates Pokemon Go continues to sit among the highest grossing and most played games on both iOS and Android devices.
Us Pokemon fans may take a little extra incentive to get out and about exploring now that the suns setting earlier and the winds get chillier and Niantic have just the solution with an exciting Halloween event that will increase the spawn rate for a number of spooky type Pokemon including Drowzee, Gastly, Gengar, Golbat, Haunter, Hypno, and Zubat.
“It’s been incredible watching people explore their neighborhoods and catch wild Pokémon all summer. We would like to trick-or-treat in our own special way by giving Trainers the chance to catch more Pokémon and earn extra Candy this Halloween.”
The event kicks off October 26th and will run through until November 1st.
“The excitement of Pokémon’s 20-year celebration continues this Halloween with the first-ever in-game Pokémon GO event. We anticipate seeing many Pokémon-themed costumes during this anniversary year, and now Trainers can add Pokémon GO to their trick-or-treat route to receive Candy and add some of the spookier Pokémon to their Pokédex.”
During the event players will also be treated to 2x Candies on all caught Pokemon and those transferred to the professor. Additionally Pokemon assigned via the Buddy system will reward 4x the normal candies – probably the only part of the update useful to most remaining players.
