One of the leading global publishers of free-to-play MMO games today revealed that they will be heading into the console market on both current and next-gen platforms. Perfect World Entertainment, publishers of popular titles such as Neverwinter Online, Dungeons and Dragons and Star Trek Online, will be bringing currently unannounced free-to-play titles from their existing library as well as future releases to multiple console platforms
Perfect World Entertainment CEO, Alan Chen, stated:
“Perfect World Entertainment has long been the leader in free-to-play PC titles,” said Perfect World Entertainment CEO, Alan Chen. “Bringing our titles to consoles is a natural progression for us, and we can’t wait to set a new standard for console MMORPGs and other genres.”
“We are looking at this medium to better connect with gamers,” said General Manager of Publishing, Andrew Brown. “The opportunity to work on new types of projects with developers from all over the world is really exciting for us as a company. We are confident in our outlook entering into this new business, and you can expect Perfect World to be a major player in the console marketplace.”
If nothing else it will be interesting to see how Perfect World Entertainment transfer the infamously clunky mouse and keyboard controls of their average MMO games into the console space.
The developers have told players to prepare for additional news, including specific titles and new games heading to console, early next year.
