Xbox 360 Version of Minecraft Sells Over 1 Million Copies in Five Days

A few days ago we told you that the Xbox 360 version of Minecraft easily broke many sales records after being released for 24 hours.  Well, there’s more news on that front, Microsoft has just announced that Minecraft for the Xbox 360 has managed to shatter all previous sales records for Xbox LIVE Arcade games and has already amassed over one million copies since its release last May 9.

If one million sales wasn’t enough, Microsoft has also shared that Xbox 360 users have spent more than 5.2 million hours mining since launch, and 4 million multiplayer sessions have been played with more than 2.4 million hours spent playing multiplayer.

What does the game’s creator and Mojang boss Markus “Notch” Persson think of all this. you might ask? He admits that he feels “stunned” and added, “Uhhh, Microsoft just sent out a press release saying Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition has sold a million copies in five days. Wow.”

Minecraft for the Xbox 360 was not developed by Mojang, but was adapted for Xbox LIVE Arcade by 4J Studios and is out now for 1,600 Microsoft Points ($20).
