Great news coming from the DC Universe Online (DCUO) keynote at SOE Live 2014 in Las Vegas, Nevada. For anyone who finds the DC-themed superhero MMO’s menu system to be cumbersome and excessively complicated (should be most of you), you’ll be happy to hear that a massive revamp for the user interface is on its way!
Originally intended to be released alongside the launch of the Playstation 4 version of DCUO in November of 2013, the revamped UI was put on hold because it needed more time. The update will reportedly increase performance of the game and will simplify the usability, flow and layout of almost every aspect of the game’s menu system.
There is no release date set for the DCUO UI revamp, though it is being worked on actively. The developers are currently using wireframe visuals for modeling and testing in order to work their way to a final form.
Released on PC in 2011, DC Universe Online has seen several expansions and a release on both the Playstation 3 and Playstation 4 platforms. A revamped UI will be a welcomed change, particularly on consoles where navigating the many options is a tiresome process. We’ll have more on the DCUO UI revamp as soon as new information rolls out. Stay tuned.
