Grinding Gear Games announced yesterday that their highly anticipated action RPG game Path of Exile will start its Open Beta on January 23rd. The game, which has been in closed beta for some time now has raised over $1.8 million in crow-funding from various ventures.
Path of Exile will also be releasing the third Act of their game which will further expand the content by 50%. Players will be able to explore abandoned docks, markets, temples and sewers in the ruined city of Sarn, all while trying to uncover the dark truth of their exile.
“We’re excited to have reached the point where we can finally throw open the doors and invite everyone in,” said Chris Wilson, producer for Grinding Gear Games. “We have one of the best and most supportive communities on the Internet, and their input has been invaluable in making Path of Exile what it is. We hope they’ll be delighted with all the new content.”
Path of Exile will be launching as a free to play title, but NOT, as a pay to win. For more information on Path of Exile, and to check out how you can get into the beta head over to the Path of Exile website.
