All too often we hear rumors prior to E3 and most sink like a brick in the sea, but on rare occasions these rumors prove to be true. The latest pre-E3 rumor has been confirmed, Ubisoft are entering the racing genre with a brand new racing MMO game, The Crew.
Although Ubisoft’s E3 conference was almost 2 hours long, The Crew was only given about 10 minutes to impress, but boy did it impress. The brief trailer and introduction from Creative Director, Julian Gerighty, was more than enough to get the adrenaline pumping. Players can expect to race in iconic city streets, barren deserts and even mountainous regions with perilous roads and deadly turns.
The Crew will feature an online persistent world that will blend together the features of co-op, competitive and single player play into a giant game world. Players will also be able to freely explore the USA in search of new parts, experience points and on-the-spot competitive races. I don’t consider myself a racing fan but after watching the reveal video, The Crew will be added to my collection on release day.
You can view the full Ubisoft Conference below but if you just want to the lowdown on The Crew, skip to 32:00. More details on customization, police involvement, game modes and car choices are included.
Obviously as it was a first reveal we weren’t given any concrete release date outside of “Early 2014” and although we haven’t actually had official confirmation, most expect the next-gen consoles to launch later this year. Meaning; The Crew won’t be a launch title for the Playstation 4 or Xbox One.
