The controversy over Mass Effect 3’s ending is long-since dead and gone, but the lessons learned from it – both by fans and by developers – still resonate within the community even now, more than a full year after the fact. For those of you who need a bit of a refresher, things kind of went something like this: Mass Effect 3’s ending was rushed and awful. Fans expressed outrage that it was rushed and awful, and demanded that Bioware changed it. After one of the biggest media frenzies seen in the games industry, Bioware eventually acceded to its players.

Dead Space 3 has appeared on a South African shopping website called BT Games. The online retailer is taking pre-orders for the survival, horror game despite the game never being officially announced. The rumour of a third sequel in the series has been rumoured for some time now. Is there really going to be a third sci-fi horror game to sink into your seat more in fear?

BioWare announces Mass Effect 3 Extended Cut

Well Mass Effect 3 ending skeptics, looks like you guys got what you were looking for. BioWare has announced its Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut which is a free download for PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 that addresses the controversial ending to the game. It provides “additional cinematic sequences and epilogue scenes” to the ending, and launches this summer.

Aliens: Colonial Marines writer discusses ?change the ending? petitions

Aliens: Colonial Marines lead writer, Mikey Newman, believes that players should not be entitled to petition artists to change their works. While as Newman didn?t outright mention Mass Effect 3 over its ending, it was clear on what he was getting at. The Gearbox writer isn?t alone in his opinion either, BioWare-Mythic senior creative director, Paul Barnett also said something similar.
