Sega?s co-creator takes mystery role at Nintendo

Remember Sonic? Well, if you haven?t already heard, one of its creators is heading to the other team. Hirokazu Yasuhara has now switched sides and joined the Nintendo team. No one knows what sort of role he will be taking on, but it can?t be kept a secret forever, and Nintendo did confirm the news of him being there.

Gamasutra has reported that Yasuhara now works at Nintendo NST in Redmond, Washington where the first party US studio was responsible for Metroid Prime Hunters and the Mario versus Donkey Kong series was made, among others.

He left his designer position of the Namco Bandai last month. Before that, he spent six years at Naughty Dog working on the Jak and Daxter series, and then two years at Visual Concepts working on the Floigan Brothers.

The Nintendo Software Technology division is known for working on all sorts on Nintendo IPs and platforms, where Yasuhara will be starting out in. Some of the company?s most recent releases include Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Mini-Land Mayhem for DS and several Nintendo-published DSiWare titles.
