Here at MMO Attack we love games. It’s what we do. We eat, drink, breathe, and sleep gaming. We’re always on the look out for the next big thing so we can give our audience the rundown. And, yes, also because we’d be playing them anyway. That’s why we put together our MMO Games list. Here you will find links to pages filled with some of the very best games out today. You’ll find games of all types too: MMOs, adventure games, strategy games and literally everything in between.

There are a number of reasons why we put together these pages. First, we want them to become a valuable resource for gamers to help them do what they do best–play. But we also wanted to signal that the the gaming industry is growing and changing. Most of the games you find here, whether they’re MMOs, MOBAs, Browser or console based–will be free-to-play and incredibly accessible. Afterall, you don’t need to drop $60 to gain entry to a decent game. In fact, the gaming industry is becoming more agile and inclusive for gamers all over the world.

And despite many of the games listed here being completely free-to-play, you’ll still find some of the most inventive and enthralling games on the market today. Take League of Angels II for example. League of Angels is a franchise that’s constantly pushing the boundaries of how a browser MMO can be defined, as well as what they’re capable of. You’ll see a similar approach to game design in Paladins, a hero shooter for PC and next gen consoles by Hi-Rez, the company behind SMITE. Paladins is a unique and fun entry to a genre that’s been blowing up since the release of Overwatch. And like League of Angels, it too is completely free to play.

World of Warships

World of Warships is a free-to-play naval strategy MMO currently under development by Wargaming. Enjoy massive sea battles against a multitude of players from around the world. There are plenty of real-life tactics to choose from that will give you the edge against any head-to-head opponent.

World of Warships has an enjoyable amount of sea vessels to choose from, including long-range aircraft carriers, bruising battleships that deliver devastating damage, and quick-and-nimble destroyers that can maneuver their way into advantageous positions.

Warhammer 40k: Eternal Crusade is a Sci-Fi MMORPG currently under development by Behaviour Interactive. This third person MMORPG has a heavy PvP focus where players fight for territory control. The combat system is uniquely engaging, with a 3D, third-person, action-based targeting system.

Chose from on of four unique factions: The Space Marines, the Orks, the Eldar, or the Chaos Space Marines. Invite your friends and make a squad, fight together and dominate!

Forge

Forge is an action based Fantasy MMORPG by Dark Vale Games, SuperGenius, and Digital Confectioners. The battle system relies on the Unreal Engine 3, creating a real-time fighting system that relies on precision and timing.

There are 5 classes to choose from in Forge: the Assassin, Shaman, Warden, Pyromancer, and Pathfinder. Learn and master your preferred role and take on other players from around the world in intense PvP similar to that of Guild Wars, World of Warcraft, and WildStar.

Salem

Salem is an open world sandbox MMORPG currently under development by Seatribe and Paradox Interactive. Similar to Minecraft, Salem will greatly emphasize the importance of survival, resource gathering and crafting. Take on the role of a trailblazing colonist as you build your town in the wilds of pre-colonial New England.

Salem will feature a full-rights looting system as well as permadeath in its PvP system. This means that fighting for survival will be that much more intense. If you’re a fan of PvP and player freedom, Salem is a game you will not want to miss.

F.E.A.R. Online

F.E.A.R. Online (FEAR) is an upcoming MMOFPS from Aeria Games, currently under development by Inplay Interactive. Expect the same kind of suspense and horror from the previous FEAR titles in F.E.A.R. online, especially thanks to the eerie atmosphere and immersive maps.

FEAR will feature a 4 player co-op option along with the traditional demolition and deathmatch game modes. The acclaimed Soul King mode will also make its triumphant return following its previous success. Look for the Beta coming soon!

World of Warcraft

World of Warcraft (WoW) is a Fantasy MMORPG developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment. Set in the Warcraft universe, World of Warcraft takes place on the world of Azeroth. It currently features four expansions; The Burning Crusade, Wrath of Lich King, Cataclysm, and Mists of Pandaria. Over seven million people have subscribed to World of Warcraft, making it the largest MMORPG ever released.

Players can chose from two factions in World of Warcraft; the Horde and the Alliance. The Horde (aka the “bad guys”) is made up of Orcs, Trolls, the Undead, the Tauren, Blood Elves and Goblins. The Alliance (aka the “good guys”) is comprised of Night Elves, Humans, Dwarves, the Draenei, the Worgen and Gnomes. A new race, the Pandaren, are free to chose either faction. Each race has a certain number of classes it can play that tailor to that race’s natural attributes.

WoW has a tremendous team focus, especially at higher levels, relying on the “holy trifecta” (tank, healer, DPS) to take down large dungeons and bosses. If you’re interested in solo play, WoW boasts the largest amount of quests and expansions ever released.

Awakening of Heroes

Awakening of Heroes (AoH) is a fantasy MOBA currently under development by Serbian video game developer COFA games. The game begs the question, “what if ordinary people were heroic?” and throws you into a world where the mundane becomes extraordinary. Very quickly will you realize that you’re not there to save the world, you’re there to save your place in it.

Awakening of Heroes will be very similar in style to League of Legends and DOTA. It will feature two bases (on the lower left and top right corner) equipped with healing wells, barracks, inhibitors, and towers, connected by lanes and surrounded by a jungle. As of right now, there are 4 characters available in alpha testing: an old lady, a schoolboy, a butcher, and a chick with a whip.

AoH will allow players to invite their friends to join the fun through the use of their social media button. A really special feature found in the game is its compatibility with the Oculus Rift. This allows spectators to observe matches in real-time, vertically scaled, 3D.

Urban Galaxy

Urban Galaxy is a browser based (HTML5) 3D MMORPG currently under development by Bubblebean. Urban Galaxy takes place on the capital city of Anassin, located on planet Cotricob. Players may choose from 3 different classes: the smuggler, carrier, or mercenary. You must pilot your ship around neighborhoods taking on quests and missions, fighting gangs and pirates, as well as corporations vying for control of the market.

Each player class has its own unique features with multiple skills and upgrades to chose from and advance their classes through the main story. Urban Galaxy also features Dynamic Events such as territory control. The game has been made accessible to most computers thanks to the low hardware requirements.

Heroes and Generals

Heroes and Generals is a free to play MMO First Person Shooter with a strategic multiplayer campaign that takes place during World War II. In the game players choose between fighting as the Heroes, which pits you into the trenches and the battlefields, or as a General which has you managing the battlefield and the units from afar.

The game can be accessed continuously using a cross-platform approach. Windows, iOS and Android devices support the game, which results in continuous action across the battlefield. Each conflict takes place through contested cities, factories and airfields on a strategic map.

The main component of the game is the First Person Shooter element, where players are put straight into the battlefield where you can use a variety of character, weapons and vehicles to take out the enemy. When you’re unable to use your PC for the FPS element, you can download the app, Heroes and Generals: Mobile Command, and use the strategic element to command players or entire groups into combat, while managing resources and securing key locations on the map.

Origins of Malu

Origins of Malu (OoM) is a fantasy sandbox MMORPG currently under development by Burning Dog Media. In Origins of Malu, players will be given the freedom to mold and shape their world. Character customization is highly emphasized through skill-sets instead of the traditional class system. Monsters adapt to a player’s style, meaning users will be forced to evolve and adjust the way they engage in battle.

Crafting is also highly acclaimed in Origins of Malu. Build anything from your every day pickaxe, to a magnificent home in a player-made city. The open world housing system will tie-in to certain abilities and player professions in order to create a more connected world. The hybrid combat system allows for direct firing and intense PvP in an open world environment shaped entirely by you.

The Division

Tom Clancy’s The Division is a third person shooter MMO currently under development by Ubisoft Massive for the Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Based in modern day USA, a plague suddenly spreads throughout the entire country on Black Friday. Within 5 days America is ruined. Cue the “Strategic Homeland Division”, aka The Division, to come in and clean up the mess.

The Division will have an RPG element mixed with an open world environment. The gameplay will be more of a traditional tactical third person shooter, with a heavy cover/peek-and-shoot type of fighting. There will also be a supplemental app that allows you to play with your friends as a flying drone.

Trials of Ascension

Trials of Ascension (ToA) is a sandbox MMORPG currently under development by Forged Chaos. Set in the fantasy world of TerVarus, Trials of Ascension is geared to provide players with hundreds of hours of adventure.

Trials of Ascension will feature a skill system, meaning players will not be limited to classes and instead turn their character into their own creation. The crafting system is highlighted by an “Innovations” feature that gives your avatar a chance to receive an “innovation” only available to your character, allowing you to enhance or create new items, skills, or abilities. There will also be player-made settlements and kingdoms, as well as many different types of structures available for crafting. In PvP, ToA will focus on open world PvP and the possibility of perma-death.

Valhyre

Valhyre is a fantasy MMORPG currently under development by Duck’s Den Productions. It takes place in the world of Denia, where players will be able to lose themselves in a magical world. The game will feature a complex combat system with styles and chain attacks, swimming, many duneons, PvP, and a very detailed crafting system.

World of Darkness

World of Darkness (WoD) is a fantasy horror MMO currently under development by CCP games. It was officially announced in 2010, but has had its release delayed due to a number of complications. Information on WoD has been scarce and it’s exact status has not been confirmed.

World of Darkness has been rumored to be a very socio-political title, emphasizing player interaction and decision making. CCP has placed a huge priority on character customization and development by hiring a fashion consultant The in-game fighting will also be minimized in order to encourage a more diplomatic style of gameplay. Factions and territories will play a significant role in WoD.

Rust

Rust is a survival MMORPG currently under development by Facepunch Studios. It takes place in an open world, sandbox, environment where players are free to explore, gather resources, and build where they please. The purpose of the game is simple, survive. Survive in an environment where EVERYTHING will kill you.

In Rust, survival is highly dependent on resource gathering. This can be done by cutting down trees or mining for minerals. Once the resources have been gathered, players are able to craft a multitude of diverse items from hatchets to weapons, and even walls or doors. Use these to hunt wolves, bears, and wildlife, and build your own shelter to keep you safe from the elements.

Be careful… There are other players looking to survive as well! Rust will feature a full-rights loot system, meaning players can loot your dead bones.
