Godfather Five Families

Godfather Five Families

The Godfather Five Families is a browser based City manager game with a mafia theme.  The goal is to build up a criminal empire that you?ll use to attack other players, build up your neighborhood, train troops like arsonists and hitmen, and steadily improve your own personal Estate.  It?s 1935: ten years before the events of The Godfather film. New York?s Five Families are engaged in an all-out war for supremacy.  The war is heating up and smaller gangs are under pressure to join one of the Families or die.  Your father?s brutal injury leaves him unable to lead your family ? leaving it up to you.  You must take charge and keep your family?s criminal organization alive.

In addition to your own neighborhood you can take control of different areas of New York, but you?ll constantly be going up against other families to do so.  Once you have control of an area it will show your family crest, letting everyone know who?s in charge.  Higher level players will be given incentives to duke it out with players of the same or higher experience level allowing you to team up with other players to take control of the city.

Forge of Empires

Forge of Empires

Forge of Empires is a browser-based strategy game developed by InnoGames. In the game, players must, among other things, manage and produce resources, develop an army, gain control of provinces, and research their way through several pages of history and development.

You begin the game with your own plot of land.  A tutorial will walk you through the various menus and gives you options of what types of buildings to build.  You are taught how to build, research and unlock more buildings.  Like your typical city-building game, Forge of Empires allows you to build on various places on your plot of land.  One thing it does differently though allows you to move your buildings around, as well as sell them.

As your city grows you will need to generate more and more resources.  You will build up your army and send scouts out to ‘visit’ other areas of the map.  As you progress you will battle other cities, conquer new provinces and expand your empire.

The game is pretty straight-forward but gives you many options and new features that will keep you coming back again and again.

Winner of an MMO of the Year Award in 2013.

Final Eden – Defunct

Final Eden

As a tribal chief, you must rebuild, defend your base from rival gangs, and assemble an army to battle for precious resources.”

What a great intro description to the game Final Eden, really makes me want to put down whatever i’m doing and give it a play!  Final Eden is a browser based real time strategy / city manager game where you must defend a small group of survivors from looters slavers and cannibals in the year 2040.

Final Eden is similar to other titles by Kabam.  Start out with a small town, build structures and armies and technologies, upgrade, advance, repeat.  The combat is automated, but you do have to strategically place your buildings and your troops, making it a little more realistic.  The game features PVP and PVE, Clans and real-time chat. The graphics are great and the gameplay is fluid and Fast.

Exoplanet War

Exoplanet War

Exoplanet War is a new browser based MMORTS game set in a distant universe where science fiction is reality. Exoplanet War offers players the choice of playing as one of three unique races, Gaians, Zubens and Neckrons, all with their own design and style of buildings and units.Unlike most free to play browser games, Exoplant War is set in a technologically advanced era where 3 civilizations are fighting for control of vital planets in order to sustain their energy supplies.

The game hosts a variety of interesting mechanics such as the 72 hour newbie protection system but the more interesting parts of Exoplanet war lie within the Commander system. Commanders are unique, individual units that march your armies into battle. Each Commander can gain experience and increase in strength, as well as learn new abilities and spells. Commanders are not limited to any particular race or unit and can be Infantry, Vehicle or even Air.

Once you’ve built your army and chosen your Commander’s, you can add specific improvements and abilities to practically any unit under your command via an in depth research and development system revolving around one of the constructed buildings. These elements, combined with the fresh, science fiction settings makes Exoplanet War quite a nice change to the typical medieval settings used in other free to play MMORTS browser games.

One of the most interesting aspects of the game is the way your army is sent to war. A large number of MMORTS games require a substantial time investment before you’re fully able to pose any kind of military threat but Exoplanet War has you fighting battles within a few moments and doesn’t punish new players for a few bad decisions early on.

Evony

Evony

Evony II is a 2D strategy browser MMO with a medieval setting. The game was originally launched in 2009 and it grew pretty fast through aggressive marketing and advertising on one end and classic, yet polished game elements at the other end.

In Evony II players must gather four different resources build their city, keep the population happy and in general manage this urban universe in a tycoon-like fashion. However, this is not the ultimate goal of the game, but that of conquering the world. In order to do that players must address military and diplomatic issues: build troops, make alliances and eventually make war against neighboring cities.

The game?s micro-transaction system is pretty common, but since this is at its core a PvP oriented game, the offers of the in-game store tend to make huge differences in a conflict. With the help of the game?s currency called ?cent? players can ignore the building time of a new construction, they can instantly gain extra resources and in general perform actions which gives the upper hand.

Evony II doesn?t reinvent the genre, but manages to do a nice job with the classic browser based strategy MMO recipe. The game looks good, is entertaining, and doesn?t take a lot of time to understand or play. Its only flaw is related to ?the dark side? of the free-to-play business model, a side unfortunately unavoidable especially for a browser MMO.

Pros: A good social environment with cut-throat politics.

Cons: People using bots and alternate accounts. Risk of total loss of cities/resources/heroes when left alone overnight.

Elvenar

Elvenar

InnoGames offers players the chance to explore an exotic fantasy world with their new city-builder game: Elvenar – The latest, strategy-MMO title was announced today with details about the game. The German developer is treading on uncommon ground with Elvenar as players have to create a flourishing city and choose between Elves or Humans as a starting race. The games’ focus lies on building and upgrading a city, but players also trade, explore the world map or have strategic turn-based fights on a 3D battlefield. Elvenar will start in the browser; mobile versions are planned. The game’s closed beta is expected to start in January 2015.

The choice between Elves and Humans influences the way the players’ cities and inhabitants look and which technologies and units are at their disposal. The Elves live and breathe magic and exist in close harmony with nature, whereas Humans are ambitious and determined engineers. “You will see some of the elvish buildings really come alive with lots of fantastical beings, like ents and golems co-existing peacefully in their cities”, explains Ulrike Kunkel, Producer of Elvenar. “The Humans on the other hand are a more technologically determined society, they focus on engineering to prevail. Our goal was to create differences in visuals and play style that make players want to try out both races at some point”, Kunkel adds.

Between managing resources, levelling up buildings and unlocking new perks, players should also pay attention to the multiplayer map. There they can interact with neighbors, scout new provinces and unlock various powerful relics by fighting NPCs. Fights take place on various battlegrounds. The strategic battles are 3D-animated, with up to 20 different monsters and unit types, which make each encounter unique and tactically deep.

Dragon Born Lore:  “Around 1,500 years ago, Farom was the most prosperous area of Kunalasi. This great prosperity was due to its rich resources and high quality goods. Its resources come from the Coldridge Mountains which contains the Night Forest with its abundant minerals and the Roland Valley with its many plants and herbs. Knowing this, a large number of dwarven craftsmen and powerful alchemists soon came to collect the various rare materials and open up their own shops. Farom soon became a hub for rare weapons, armor, medicine and magic scrolls. In time this attracted many traders, adventures, Elves skilled in magic items, and opportunistic Goblins skilled in Steam Technology. Farom was a very open society which welcomed all races and people, and was a model for the rest of the world. However the good times cannot last forever and a darkness was rising.

To increase its prestige further, Farom welcomed powerful mages by spending large amounts of financial resources to create the Mage Guild and Research Institute. Royal titles were even conferred to the most outstanding mages in order to win them over. These actions angered the Knights of the Silverwing Order. In the eyes of this conservative and old-fashioned order of knights and priests, the mages were a group of blasphemous heretics. Time and again, their feelings caused conflict to arise between the Silverwing Order and the Mage Guild. However, the favor held by the mages with the Grand Duchy of Farom has shielded them from harm, and they were eventually able to establish an assembly known as the Arcane Council at court to participate in government.

As the importance of the Arcane Council grew at court, their behavior slowly transformed from humble to domineering. Friction between themselves and others earned them even more enemies. Whether it be the horned people of the plains, the elves of the forest, the dwarves of the northern mountains, or even the wily goblins who never interfere with disputes, the people of Kunalasi are all having a hard time dealing with Arcane Council.”
