Here at MMO Attack we love games. It’s what we do. We eat, drink, breathe, and sleep gaming. We’re always on the look out for the next big thing so we can give our audience the rundown. And, yes, also because we’d be playing them anyway. That’s why we put together our MMO Games list. Here you will find links to pages filled with some of the very best games out today. You’ll find games of all types too: MMOs, adventure games, strategy games and literally everything in between.

There are a number of reasons why we put together these pages. First, we want them to become a valuable resource for gamers to help them do what they do best–play. But we also wanted to signal that the the gaming industry is growing and changing. Most of the games you find here, whether they’re MMOs, MOBAs, Browser or console based–will be free-to-play and incredibly accessible. Afterall, you don’t need to drop $60 to gain entry to a decent game. In fact, the gaming industry is becoming more agile and inclusive for gamers all over the world.

And despite many of the games listed here being completely free-to-play, you’ll still find some of the most inventive and enthralling games on the market today. Take League of Angels II for example. League of Angels is a franchise that’s constantly pushing the boundaries of how a browser MMO can be defined, as well as what they’re capable of. You’ll see a similar approach to game design in Paladins, a hero shooter for PC and next gen consoles by Hi-Rez, the company behind SMITE. Paladins is a unique and fun entry to a genre that’s been blowing up since the release of Overwatch. And like League of Angels, it too is completely free to play.

Mythic Saga

Mythic Saga is a new free fantasy title from Gamewave, the publisher behind Crystal Saga and Call of Thrones.  

Mythic Saga is hugely inspired by the oriental mythology. Players in the game act as heroes that are sent out to explore the fantastic world,  searching for lost memories and the truth around the Mystic land. Quests, guild, crafting, mounts, combat system and on ? typical mainstays of modern MMORPGs are all present in this title.

The game is very bright and filled with light oriental classical music as the soundtrack.  You are welcomed to a world with towering trees, birds singing softly, amazing animals and rare herbs coexisting in harmony.  In Mythic Saga you will find a world of wonderment and an adventure for the ages.

Core Features at Glance:

  • Four Character Classes ? Players can choose to be Warrior, Assassin, Mage or Priest. Common as the archetypes, characters can be developed richly due to the special elements of Zodiac and Five Elements added to the game.
  • Story-driven Quests ? There are four quest modes in Mythic Saga. Players in it can unravel the mysteries of the Spirit Cataclysm and save the world from destruction one quest at a time.
  • Relic System ? Relic is a mystical object with special abilities which is activated since Lv. 25. Relics can be used to protect character, heal injuries and even distract enemies when players engage in a ranged battle. Every relic has six stats that determine respective abilities and can be upgraded through five tiered levels.
  • Mounts ? A set of unique mounts from the float stone to ancient firestorm wheel, from chubby panda to legendary dragon are all available in the game.
  • Community ? Players in Mythic Saga can make friends in several different ways. Join a faction or a guild, or form a mentor-apprentice relation or being a couple.
  • Others ? Real-time weather system makes the world live and breathing. Besides, there are also wedding system, crafting and a rich collection of customizable options for characters.

Mythborne

Mythborne is a 2.5D browser-based RPG game developed by R2Games. The game is loosely based on ancient Greek mythology and features with turn-based battles based on attack speed. The game’s core systems include Character Upgrade, Recruiting Heroes, Dungeons and more, which brings a wide variety of game styles to players.

In Mythborne, players can deploy multiple Heroes and lead theirs’ quad to fight against various monsters. There are five classes in the game, and each class has its own unique skills. Only by taking full advantage of each classes’ skills and by properly balancing the squad’s strength and weaknesses can the player best increase their strength.

Ministry of War is an exciting new free online strategy game in which the player gets to choose from four ancient civilizations to conquer the land. Choose from ancient China, Rome, Persia, or Egypt as you amass an army and takeover the ancient lands.

What is cool about MoW (what’s up with all these MMORPG game abbreviations?) is that equipment plays a vital role in the success of the game in conjunction with your chosen hero. All equipment is divided by 10 levels and there are 4 levels of quality distinguished by different colors. The colors are: white, green, blue, and purple, from the lowest quality to the highest. Purple equipment is the best quality and has the lowest drop rate. Blue and purple equipment both have an attribute limit; your hero can only equip them if meet the requirements.

Heroes play a large roll in Ministry of War. The dynamic and balance of the game as it is right now makes them exceedingly over powered if built right, and horribly useless if built wrong. This crucial element will come down to players just trying things with their heroes to see what works. In our case, we tried about three different heroes with varying attributes before we created one that was an absolute powerhouse!

[/review]Might and Magic: Duel of Champions is a free to play collectible card game, or trading card game from Ubisoft. 2013 has seen a multitude of online TCG games, which has both diluted the market, but has caused some of the bigger players to really stand out. Trading card games may not be for everyone, but Might and Magic brings something to the table that other card games have fallen flat on.

The game starts with a choice of three factions. They are separated by whether or not you are into healing and protection, attack damage, or infecting and stealing life. Once you’ve figured out the path you’d like to take, your story campaign begins. The tutorial will give you the basics of the game, and takes you through a few duels with some dialogue that ties together the plot. RPG players will want to take notice to the events going on, as the story for the game is actually quite decent.

Once you’ve got the hang of the game you’ll find that this online TCG Game is actually more than meets the eye. There are a number of elements that come in to play and casting cards is not as simple as throwing them at the opponent, a lot of strategy and critical thinking goes into what cards you do or do not play. The game has three types of main cards: creatures, spells and fortunes. A PvP mode along with the ability to ‘practice’ before-hand gives you enough skills to venture into the battle arenas.

Midgard Rising

Midgard Rising’s developers wanted to bring a World of Warcraft type world to your mobile device. And while the world may look somewhat familiar, the ability to bring World of Warcraft to your phone, is one we can’t quite say has been accomplished yet, especially with Midgard Rising.

Midgard Rising doesn’t stray too far from the typical fantasy MMORPG game with your classic tank, dps, buffer and healer classes, along with typical leveling and high fantasy world. Not much to see here folks, you can move along now.

[/review]MechWarrior Online is a first person shooting Mech game set during the year 3049 in the beginning stages of a massive interstellar war. In the game you will be put in command of one of the most powerful war machines to ever walk into the heat of battle and battle it out with and against other players in high-octane conquest and versus modes.

The BattleMechs in MechWarrior Online are the real draw here. After you choose which of the five great houses you want to fight for, you will customize your Mech suit to fit your battlefield role. After some time in the game you will begin upgrading your Mechs weapons, armor and systems in order to create a truly unique fighting machine to take on an ever-changing and dynamic universe.

MechWarrior Online features 12 different Mechs, from an Assault style Mech that has the heaviest and most destructive weaponry, to light Mechs that rely on speed and a minimalist armor to accomplish their goals. In between those two styles of Mech are the Medium, which form the bulk of the fighting throughout the universe, and the Heavy Mech which uses brute force and protection to control the battlefield.

Marvel: Avengers Alliance is the latest RPG from Playdom. In the game you are put into the role of an upstart agent in the Marvel Universe’s covert operations facility S.H.I.E.L.D. The agency is staffed by regular humans, but they often get tangled up in the affairs of the superhuman community. In the game you are sent off into the field with the help of the likes of Spider-Man, Beast and Thor as they begin to investigate a mysterious new substance known as ISO-8. This new substance has been giving even the most basic thugs the strength to go head-to-head with The Avengers.

Marvel: Avengers Alliance is a nod to the classic turn-based role-playing games that gamers have loved for decades. Your party features three members, each of which will take turns attacking enemies in the battle screen. All of your actions from range attacks to defensive buffs to item uses, use stamina which will need to be replenished before each battle. The mechanics are simple enough, but there is a great deal of strategy needed in order to defeat your foes. There are many different character types in the game and five different classes to choose from.

The game features many of the Marvel Heroes characters that players know and love, such as Iron Man, Captain America, Spider-Man, Deadpool and more! The games plot was written by Brian Michael Bendis who has written a number of major Marvel Comics during his time with the franchise. In Marvel Heroes you will battle many villains as seen in the comics with the main antagonist being Doctor Doom.

Marvel Heroes is most closely related to action RPGs like Diablo II, with a 3/4 top down view and fast-intense combat. The game is completely free to play, but players can purchase in-game items to help support and fund the development. In all there are more than 100 different characters from the Marvel Universe, many of which can be obtained in game or by purchasing them to play.

MapleStory

It’s not every day that you come across a game with a squishy pink raid boss, pets that poop on command , a Meiji-era castle full of evil ninja, and a haunted mansion that fills up with quests every Halloween, but MapleStory, Nexon America’s free-to-play side-scrolling MMORPG, offers all of that and more.

The adventure begins when you select your class. You pick from a hodgepodge of seemingly random characters, like a time-traveling samurai and a magical girl who can transform into a super hero (complete with theme song and catchphrase). Each character has a unique combat system and back story, but they’re all tied together by a common goal: to stop the Black Mage, the source of all evil in Maple World.

You’ll spend a good chunk of time perfecting your character’s looks and we don’t just mean equipment (though there are several robust systems that allow you to fine-tune your gear). We’re talking demon wings, duck pajamas, bell bottoms, pancake hats, briefcases, headphones, and hundreds of other items that let you create an in-game persona. Admiring peoples style while chilling in town is almost a mini-game of its own!

Sooner or later, you’ll want to group up with other players so you can experience the games Party Quests, like one that lets you mount dragons to fight enemies in the air. MapleStory has several ways of letting you do this. You can join Guilds, Alliances (big groups of Guilds), and Families. If you’re monotonously-inclined, you can even get married and gain access to a love-themed dungeon.

The game offers more pets, mounts, a monster farm, medals, theme dungeons, crafting, familiars but in the end, it’s not the systems that make MapleStory so unique… It’s the games perfect blend of panache and heart.
